I dry camp exclusively. That said if I let my batteries deplete down to 20-30% I can end up with 3-4 hours of charge time on the generator. At some point I may add solar, but one of my favorite spots is super shady so that would not help. I think my current setup allows for roughly 100 amps/hr of charging.
600 AH of lithium

Gurus,
Must be the search algorithms latched in my computer some where....this came up on my Facebook page. Looks like it is a 12vdc unit and will replace our t-stat..... thought i'd pass it along for those of us trying to find a smart thermostat for our coaches. https://www.waltechint.com/
First, we are in the middle of nowhere, just outside Glenallen AK. Second, I am thinking this isn’t good.
Within site of our campground, well if you could call it a campground, the coach is just flat, no power. The engine is running but will not rev above 600 rpm. Luckily I can coast into the campground, and idle speed slowly rolls me to our site. Good karma payback for all the folks I have helped on the road this trip.
No engine codes. No engine lights. Fuel filter is 1/4 way on on the sight glass, so it’s not likely fuel filter is the issue. It’s been climbing pretty steep grades with not a problem. All engine parameters are exactly as they should be. But nothing happens when you press the accelerator.
Hmm, quick diagnostic. Press High Idle switch. Engine revs.
A ha, this is a electrical problem. So I tried the Bill Gates software fix. I unplugged the sensor on the accelerator pedal and plugged it back in. Voila, all is good.
Nevertheless, a new sensor will be waiting at our next stop. Next stop cause the lady at the office says USPS, UPS, and FedEx don’t deliver here.
I had good karma on this one.
Posting to amuse you, and to provide some clues if you ever have a similar situation.
I can’t believe it, after all these years I have recently discovered that Newell installed a local weather device on our rig. It’s in the bathroom and has been covered up by a sliding cover. Here is a list of the info it provides. I have started using it because the weather forecasting here in Alaska has not been the least accurate for our locations.
If there are water drops visible, it is raining.
If there is frost on it, it is cold outside.
If there is snow on it, time to relocate.
If it’s missing, hurricane or tornado, time to relocate.
If it’s hot to the touch, the sun is shining.
If it’s dark, time to go to bed.
Technology is grand !
So #490 has a list, as all things seem to. The couple of high priority items are tires, steering issues and air conditioning issues, then aqua hot/water heater issues.
So I pulled one of the basement airs out, it’s an SCS dual stage package unit. Found out they are sealed systems with no service ports and you have to pull the entire unit out to service it. Not very service friendly. Pulling the unit was not too difficult, luckily they they are located in a bay and are fairly easy to get to. So I found a burned up control board, and after some research I decided I am going to ditch the entire board and re-wire everything with some relays and a 24vac transformer so I can use a house style thermostat with Wi-Fi capability.
New shoes delivered:
Burned up board
Disconnecting the duct work to get the unit out:
New relays and transformer installed:
Unit almost ready to go back in, notice I made some cut outs in the top to get to the new service ports that are going to be added:
Has anyone added a valve to regulate the engine coolant entering the rariton heat exchanger? After a drive, the water is scalding hot. Now that I have the coolant out of the bus I was contemplating adding a couple of shut off valves. Heater is Tee-d off a branch that continues towards the front of the coach. I was going to put the valves next to the water heater in-line with the coolant hoses.
Hi guys,
My name is Aaron! My significant other and I have been heavily considering purchasing a 2007 beaver marquis, never thought we could afford a Newell but we came across model #682 from 2004 and was wondering if anyone here has any info on this?
I've seen two for sale ads and that's about it, looks like it sold for around $239k back in 2017. I see it was not a steerable tag axle and was a more rare 2 slide for its time.
Any info you guys could provide would be extremely helpful, I realize the Newell is built too a much higher standard than any Monaco/Beaver just don't want to be surprised by anything on this specific bus.
Thanks,
Aaron
Has anyone put 365’s on the rear tag? If so, please let me know if you know of any used wheels that would fit my coach. I’m getting new tires so I may as well upgrade the tags so I can switch the fronts to the rears in another 5 years or so (getting new 365’s on the front also)…
I brought our coach to a local place to have them align it since they 1) would work on coaches, 2) had a full alignment rack to do the front and back of the coach. After the alignment ($360) they said the dual/tags are not adjustable (welded) and adjusted the front according to the documents attached. I’m not sure if the back can be adjusted but I’m prepared to crawl under the coach and figure this out. I will be taking it to another local shop that American Tire Concierge recommended (HIGHLY recommend their service!) and will see what they say when they align the wheels after the install of the tires… I should have just waited for the alignment until I got the tires but it’s money well spent if it means I find a good shop to work on the front end locally. Will let you know what I find out and how the service works out the end of next week. If you guys have a minute please let me know what these settings should be and if you agree with their assessment. Will add the other alignment specs when I go next week. I just want this beast to ride like it used to and not eat tires…
So I just received my delivery of tires from TiresDirect.net. It was a bit of a gamble but had no issues and tires are pretty new, not old stock. 16 and 17th weeks of 2023, so April of this year.
These were for the Newell, so I had to order (2) 315/80R22.5s for the front, I ended up going with Toyo M144 load range L. The Newell has an 18k front axle. The (6) rear are 11R24.5s and I went with the Toyo M170 load range H.
Prices
315's $569.99 plus $55.47 FET each
11Rs $390.99 plus $29.39 FET each
Shipping for all 8 tires was $393.30 and they shipped Fed Ex right to the house, dropped with a lift gate truck.
Total was $4,377.70 (not including installation)
My local tire guy will mount them for $35 a tire. Rough place in a rough part of town but they do a good job.
