Sub-Zero 700TCI-3 Icemaker quit on our last trip.  I did a small amount of troubleshooting & I thought the icemaker itself was the problem, we bought a bag of ice and all was OK.  Six days later the refrigerator quit working but the freezer was OK.  A couple of hours after that the display went dim.  I ordered a 4204380 control board from WCP Distributing which cured all symptoms.

FWIW, the parts ordering process;  The local Sub-Zero repair shop had zero stock but would order one for about $200 over sticker price with a delivery in about a month.  WCP Distributing is the West coast supplier, they also had zero stock.  The Sub-Zero/Wolf/Cove website has a search engine for service and parts locator.  I put in a Midwest zip code and came up with Midwest Parts Distributing.  I called Midwest, they had the part but Sub-Zero licensing allows sales only in their region.  I called WCP who then after checking with Midwest took the order and had Midwest drop ship directly to me.

Here is a nice read about an old Travco. I linked it more for the concept that many of the gurus espouse. That being warranty by the owner, and the more you can fix, the happier you will be.

My wife and I took over #258. We love it. Right after we bought it, we were driving through down town ATL on the highway, and lost all power, during rush hour. Got towed off to the side of the highway by curtesy patrol. Finally got the generator jump started and was able to start the engine and got us down to Florida, where we discovered the Alternator had thrown both belts. This was our introduction to owning a Newell and we haven't looked back. We replaced all the tires with new Yokohama 16 ply, have worked through a engine compressor failure, which left us stranded in a parking lot, next to the post office in in Panama City, FL over thanksgiving two years ago. We have two large dogs, and are gearing up to do some full time traveling across the US before heading down to Central/South America.

I'm looking for the proper replacement for the air filter. I found https://www.racorstore.com/racor-0628910...-5x24.html, Wanted to make sure that this is the correct air filter before I order it for a replacement. We are headed out to EDC Las Vegas on the 11th of May, and I want to limit our surprises. I don't know the last time the filter was replaced, and I blew it out with an air hose, (from the inside out) on the last trip after getting hit by a pretty heavy dust storm coming down 287 from I-40, on the way home to Fort Worth.

Well, the battle continues to find a cause for DEF to be dripping out of an exhaust pipe fitting, and eventually spraying all over the back of the coach and Toad.

I've replaced the DEF Doser, reprogrammed the ECM, and replaced the gasket and clamps after the crosspipe where the DEF has been dripping.

I'm not buying the excuse that "some just leak". Can't be right and I'm still not taking no for an answer.

Thought I'd throw it out for some brain power.

I have two heat pump basement air systems with thermostats, they are 2 ton each and both work, they are not direct replacement for Newell coach but was installed in our coach.  They are heavy and must be picked up local here in NW Arkansas, 50 miles from Newell. Would be happy to hook them up for test.  $750 each or trade for something.

Coach 1482 Automatic Water Fill float switch has failed twice in a year, it is currently sticking ON intermittently.  It is a Madison M8700 Float Switch which is a magnet actuated reed switch.  It is rated at 24VDC 1 Amp, they don't show the 12VDC rating.  The water valve is a 12VDC 11.6 Watt ASCO 8210G009 Red Hat.  Anyone else experiencing this failure?  I'm considering adding a relay unless there is a better option.

I rebuilt the Red Hat valve & discovered an "O" ring stuck in the inlet side of the valve.  It showed evidence of being there for a long time but didn't seem to affect the operation.

We are starting our phase 2 of updating our coach, this will be the installation of eleven 525watt panels to the roof, before I start ordering inverter chargers I want to ask how many times have you had to use 120vac 30amp in campgrounds? The reason I'm asking is I can make 220vac with 2 inverter chargers with only 120ac input BUT it cost more to do it that way, the cheaper route would be one 6000-8000 watt 220vac inverter. As many of you know I have replaced my basement air system with mini split units and they are 220vac. The diagram for it is attached but I have decided to go with 48v inverter rather than 24v as previously discussed.

The Outback VFX Inverters have a round filter that are pushed into place with nothing retaining them except friction.  It falls out on rough roads and then don't accomplish any filtering.  I was wondering if anyone has devised a way to retain them?  I put a wad of Tacking Putty on each side as an experiment.

Access to the filter is by removing 4 screws holding the inverter front cover on (Phillips #2), the filter is under it.

Hi Everyone!  Very new and trying to not bother everyone with too many questions but I have one that involves safety and I haven't been able to find an answer despite searching at length, so here goes.

We are the current caretakers of 1244 (2008 - C15/ZF12) and tow a Jeep Gladiator (BlueOx/Air Force).  We will be taking our first trip that involves mountain passes in the near future and I would like to better understand the interaction between the cruise control, the transmission, and the brakes based on our setup.  Specifically, if I set the cruise at 60 and have the jake brakes engaged (high setting), on descent should I expect the cruise to cause the transmission to downshift to keep me near the set speed or do I need to manually downshift to match the retardation of the jake to the slope of the descent?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Best regards,

db
