Gurus
Has anyone worked on and fixed the panel back lighting next to the bed and various switching panel?  Seems like there is a power supply, Illuminator and the actual ribbon wire lights.  What seems to be to most fail prone component to start with?

Thank you in advance for the help!

This may have been discussed before but could not find any info.

Had a few of the "Red" Warning/Operating indicator lights inoperative on my galley command center.  Found them on Ebay by using what looked light a name....."SoLiCo".  These fit a 1/2" hole and come in Red, Yellow and green with a black or stainless bezel. The specs are (14V 1W).  Just received my order and installed them without any issue.... worked great.

Hey Folks,

Here is the build sheet for my 83.  Got this emailed from Newell the other day.  It's cool to see what the coach had in it when it was new.  Apparently they have the blueprints too, but they said they couldn't scan them because they are too old.  They said I could come by and take pics.

Enjoy!

I pulled the salon slide windows out and will be cleaning them up and reinstalling soon.
Any tips on what to watch for when reinstalling the windows?  What ‘caulk’ do I use?  I think the old sealant was Urethane like that used on car windows now - that is what I was planning to use again unless there are better options.  I can buy the Urethane in a roll or use the squeezy-tube stuff but it makes a bigger mess.  Any ideas are welcome. I will call Newell and get their input also.

Our Salon slide has been leaking inside for years when the slide room was out.  This was due to a number of factors including the windows leaking and the slide seal not fully sealing correctly.  The slide room ceiling was starting to sag and for some crazy reason I decided to pull the ceiling down and rebuild it.  I am going to include some pictures here and there (eventually will be a full video showing the full rebuild.  My beautiful wife assisted me this morning to remove the big windows from the coach in order to remove the side wall plywood (3/4” btw) in the salon slide. I will attach some pictures although I have more in-depth videos to come for any that are interested.  This is NOT difficult work but it is definitely tedious and you need to be sure to pull the pieces off slowly and mark the pieces carefully.  Taking LOTS of pictures will also help with the assembly process - I am about 1/2 way done with the process and still have not pulled all the side panels off the walls of the salon (more difficult than it appears).  There are lots of hidden screws but with patience you will find them all.

Greetings fellow Guru's,

I have had many failures of the Southco catches which Newell uses on many of the interior doors and compartments.

The weak spot is the plastic catch which breaks just inboard of the mounting screws. One of these catches which is used on the Sub Zero refrigerator door went unnoticed resulting in the door swinging open while underway. Luckily no broken eggs.

I had machined a few aluminum replacements which have worked out very well so far. If I can get enough people to be interested in obtaining some, I will make a run. I think the cost would be very reasonable.

Let me know your thoughts and interest.

Regards to all,

Mike
