On our summer journey, the coach developed an issue where the top of the salon slide came in a bit too far and one of the pins would catch on the edge of the slide hole instead of going into the hole.

In it’s normal to us operation, the top always came in a bit, but when the pins went into the holes it wold push the top back out. Except now it doesn’t on one of the pins.

I have torn the basement apart, looking and figuring why this would happen. I have run my endoscope cameras all over the innards of the slide mechanism without any logical conclusions.

Today @"RussWhite" came over to help in this search for a solution. After watching the slide operation, and seeing that adjustable hard stops keep the room from coming into too far, Russ made an observation/suggestion. If the stops control the room end point, then what does the limit switch do? Well if tells the pins to come down. So move the limit switch to engage a bit earlier, so the pins come down while the room is not quite in, so that they catch the holes, and the bottom continues until the hard stops come into play.

On the surface it sounds sketchy, after all, it sounds like an exercise in ventilating your roof. But we only needed to activate the pins 1/4 to 1/2 earlier, and the switch would only move 1/4 inch.

I am happy to report that it worked like a charm.

I can’t say this will work for all the slides with this problem. The switch is located under the center of the slide out in the basement ceiling. You can not see unless the slide is fully extended. Don’t get turned around under there. There are two switches. The one of concern is the one closest to the outside, and you want to move it further to the outside to engage the pins earlier.

And certainly those pins that are activated by magnets will require moving the magnets.

This is admittedly a band aid. I can not figure out how the slide room is tilting inward when it is fully inward to cause the problem. I know of other coaches with the exact same issue with HWH slide outs. If someone knows the true cause, please pipe up.

Last March I was having issues with my generator. It would start then shut down. I f I started the engine, the generator would fire right up and run as normal. Had a bunch of different suggestions from the Gurus. It ended up being the house batteries. I put two new AGMs in..

Fast forward to today. Same issue all over again. I checked the voltage on the batteries an the were both a round 11.5 V. I can't imagine that both batteries are already shot but I will get them tested tomorrow and figure out what to do from there. I also checked the engine batteries and they were at 12.6 and they are about 5 years old.

Am wondering if I am causing the problem myself. I keep my coach parked in a storage facility that does not have electrical hookups.  I turn off the main battery switches. Could this be the problem?

I think I put too much load on the inverter. Was using an induction hot plate and using the electric kettle.

The GFCI outlets over the sink popped and the inverter is dark.

Don't see anything in the manual about reset restart procedures.

ANY ideas?

When you buy or sell a high dollar item like a coach please watch out while doing without dealing with the owner of the coach, if it is a consignment really watch out. There are ways even appear to be successful dealers can screw you on either a purchase or a sale. I have been screwed once badly on a boat for more than what most used coaches go for. Also I was very lucky to get my car back from a consignment seller recently on a trade in which I didn't have to pay the loan on. This also was a multi six figure close to loss. I can't name the dealer or who was involved but if you look at instagram and youtube you can find what appeared to be a very successful exotic car dealer in the united states that screwed many people, banks and other dealers. It doesn't matter how successful they appear.

This is just one reason that I will not deal with consignment dealers as a general rule.

Hi All,

I am not totally new to the Newell family, but yet it has been 20 years since I have taken a trip in one. I forget what year model it was but it was originally my stepmother's parents Coach. My father and stepmother took delivery of the coach(both since deceased) from the factory it's first annual service and at the time I was going to school in Miami at N.E.O. we took a many state trip and I was allowed to take it with some college friends to a few legs of the trip. This was my step grandparents third or fourth Newell that I knew of. I am originally from near Miami and would cruise the strip in the early 90s.

Fast forward from the 90's until today. I have 1/2 custody of a seven year old. I also have an opportunity that I can work remotely and around the country without needing a true home base. I will buy or lease some commercial property for some operations that we need to have stationary. I have had multiple fifth wheels, horse trailers, large boats and LQ horse trailers. I have never had a coach before though.

Here are my wants.

Realistically would like to be $200k or less, while I can go way over 400k, I don't really want to. I would like to purchase some other equipment with that capital.
Must be able to tow a two car stacker trailer. Would like to have a small work area in trailer., stacker can be a package with coach and preferred. For car size, I have a couple of classics to rotate between and then usually would like to carry a full size sedan or new Corvette.
Would like to have the flat slide system with at least two slides preferably four. The larger the coach the better.
A higher horsepower Caterpillar power plant. I would do a Cummins but I have Cat or MTU in everything else.

The following are pretty much more than wants, but will be above everything else.

A bunk area or something dedicated for my son.
A dedicated or fairly dedicated work area.
Not have the wifi/satellite system completely upgraded yet. I have two companies that are in the tech space and even if upgraded my team will come in and change completely.
Either have a solar system installed or one can be retrofitted for off grid use, part of one of my companies does solar system for power grid level and power wall type systems we can leave one in place or design one, but the roof must be able to support it.
Either already retrofitted or originally had plasma TV's, this is one retrofit I don't want to deal with.
I REALLY do not like a light interior in the coach. White couches etc are OUT.
Want something newer, BUT really dislike dealing with DEF, the DEF issue is huge for me.

I know I should be looking to build, I could, but really don't have the want to drop that much capital right now.

TIA if anyone knows of anything.

First post and looking...

When did the 4k projection system start with the outdoor viewing start? I am starting the search for a coach now, and would like to know when the projection system start that is viewable from the interior and the exterior of the coach? Also if anyone knows of any for sale that have this option or have been converted I am interested.
