Hello Gurus,
I have a question/issue I'm trying to figure out.
One amp meter in my coach is reading almost 30 amps when I run my back AC, but when I put a meter on it at the AC (roof), it shows about 14 amps. The other meter for the front air is reading about 21 amps, but is also pulling about 14 amps on a meter at the AC.
When the AC's are not on, I'm not seeing much pull that may be adding to it.
Not sure what may be bad, the meters, the AC's or something in-between. Previous owner had some trouble with the rear AC tripping the beaker. He replaced the breaker a couple of times.
I am a bit concerned and any insight will be much appreciated.
81 Classic
Thanks,
Herb
I know that the older 90s coaches could install the newer 'nose' of the 2000 up to about 2003.
Does anyone know if they can put the 2007/08 front/rear end on say a 2004? The newer single windshield and the higher mounted lighting are a nice improvement...
All,
After countless searches and visits to various coaches and much back and forth with Gurus from this amazing forum (and a failed deal that set me back several months) I finally managed to buy myself a Newell!
I just made a deal for #423! Deposit check went out via Fedex this afternoon.
i will be going out to pick it up on June 24th in New Mexico.
I know it needs a bunch of work and I am ready to get in there and get to it.
This coach has had a very strange and interesting trip indeed.
I learned from the forum that it is a bit of an oddball, like me. a 1996 with IFS, ABS and a bath and a half.
From a NASCAR driver to a forum member to the cold reaches of Canada and back to the Southwest it has had both tender loving care from owners as well as some hard knocks.
I'm have a research compulsion and truly believe the "7P" rule. Proper Prior Planning Prevents pee Poor Productions. I've learned so much about these coaches from reading MANY forum posts.
I am sure I will have tons of questions to ask. be aware often i come up with crazy ideas....some work well...others? Not so much.
A little bit about me. I live in Upstate New York about 90 Miles from NYC. I'm an older gent who works (not retired, Yet!) that loves to tinker. Been an RV fan for ages and ages. I'm an avid pilot (did the commercial thing) and now fly mostly for myself. I've got a kit helicopter that I tow around with my current 3/4 scale RV. well, compared to the Newell it's more like 1/2 scale!
Mostly I avoid campgrounds, preferring to boondock with as much off-grid capacity as i can get. Yes, Solar is going on this Newell this year... maybe Lithium Phosphate batteries as well.. but the prices, they keep a dropping" So maybe later on. Sadly, this coach is missing all it's house batteries. I'm going to buy a temporary set (likely, Renogy AGM's) to get me home and through the time before the solar install.
I look forward to meeting many of you all!
As a quick aside, I am looking for the wall mounted table that goes between the recliners in the salon area where there is a love seat that is in amazing shape, but i would prefer recliners and the table for sure. Also, a Newell dinette or even just the table. At this point I have a large couch where the dinette (though this coach had a table and chairs, originally I believe) It looks as if it's a Villa that could have a motorized retractable table because of the "flap" at the base of the center section. Anyway... I have nowhere to eat nor work at the moment.
That's all for now (and it was a lot!)
Be seeing you,
Rick Miller

Just replaced my Coleman RVcomfort.ZC thermostat with the new Micro-Air EasyTouch RV Thermostat. It is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi compatible and programmable. Very easy to install and works like a charm. Highly recommend the upgrade!

So, I know there are not many 05 and later threads here so I will post what ever issues I find with my coach.
I have had the coach for a little over a year and still have a hard time believing I am buying one, I say that cause making payments mean you are renting it until it's paid for in my opinion.
I have had a issue with my number 1 and 2 slides on the drivers side. They tend to be a little jerky if you will. After talking to Travis at Newell I was advised to try and add some zert fittings to get the bearings lubed up again.
The bearings used in my coach are not like the newer style which I think are enclosed and self lubing. Each slide has eight bearings, four on the slide room and four on the chassis. The come at a cost of 329.00 each, so to replace them all is about 3k for each slide, plus labor to install. I think it's close to 5-6k per slide if one wanted to replace them all, I don't fall into that category.
It is important per Newell service to exercise the slides a few times a month to make sure things work smoothly, this is really needed if you are in a humid climate.
I have gone through all the records that came with 746 and indeed the bearings have been replaced a few times. My goal is to try and revive the bearings but freeing them up from any rust and ensure they can have greese added to them on a regular basis.
Okay so my idea is to spray a light coat of white vinegar to the bearings and then add the zert fittings to start applying the needed lubricant at which point ill start working the slides in and out multiple times to get a smoother tracking.
For some strange reason, the driver sides appear to be somewhat worse than the passengers side.
At this point I can get the number one slide to go in by manually moving the bearings inboard with a large breaker bar and wood block, I don't advise beating on them with a block of wood and hammer. The culprits are the two slide side bearings at the midship that attach to the slide room. In a way I'm kinda glad I had this issue know as it helped me locate the correct fuses that blow if the slide doesn't retract or extend all the way. You have to look at each situation when dealing with your coach as a learning experience.
I have learned that I need to have at least a bi-weekly schedule to extend and retract the slides. If you don't do this expect to be heading to the desert between January and April in California or to Miami OK for service.

The initial part of the plumbing system is the water inlet and associated hose reel. My Glendenning reel stopped working and I have been trying to figure the source of the problem. The circuit breaker on the switch was inoperative, impossible to reset, so I began to take the switch apart. Long story short, I found that the hot side wasn’t hot, so there should be a fuse somewhere. The manual calls for a 10 amp fuse in line on the hot side in spite of the circuit breaker being identified as 4 amps. Anyway I have searched high and low on my fuse panels and can’t find the location of the associated fuse. I did find an unlabeled 7.5 amp fuse that had blown and replaced that but still no joy. Called Newell and they weren’t able to help either. I will try them again on Monday.
Does anyone have any idea where the fuse for the hose reel might be located? And also but less important, does anyone have any idea what circuit might require the 7.5 amp fuse?
Any input appreciated!
Terry
Currently in Santa Fe and headed for Pagosa Springs later this week.
I have a 1996 coach with a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine. My start batteries need to be replaced and was wondering what is the appropriate size in CCA and CA on these 8d batteries? I'm probably going to use AGM batteries and would like to hear any recommendations on the best place to purchase the batteries?.
Thanks,
Jerry
This is one I went to look at the other day and hope to own soon. I did a video while I was there and put it on my YouTube.
Forgot to take a picture. Today after eating lunch with Tom & Darlene at Happy Jack Lodge & RV park we saw a nice 1997 single slide parked there. At first I thought it was our old #486 since the colors were so similar.
