I have some questions about our coach.
This is the first trip we have been on since taking ownership of the Newell. It’s suppose to be relaxing and it’s turning into a mechanical schooling instead, lol.

There have been so many things happening in this shakedown. Although we have kept the dealership up to date on the issues we have been learning and we have been reading the manuals to help us have a better understanding of the coach. I still have some basic yet important procedure questions regarding some things to make sure I operate things correctly.

1. When using the aqua hot system: once We have connected the coach to the city water source,  What do We do next to turn on the system and what buttons other than the button that says “city” water On the interior panel do We switch on while parked at an RV park? Also if We were boondocking how is that procedure different?

2. We have a small leak in the full bath in the back around the seal of the escape hatch in the ceiling. What product do you suggest we use to seal it up best on the roof?

3. When parked and connected to power and after using “travel“ to level the coach and extending out the slides, how do you suggest We lower the coach and dump the air?  Do We dump the air when parked for longer periods of time? What is the best practice etc. this coach has new airbags and those systems are working correctly.

4. We had a pretty significant leak of hydraulic fluid on the back drivers side and it leaked in to the bedroom which we cleaned there is quite a bit of leaking on the side if the slide outside and it looked on the top of the slide outside of the seal. The seal appears to be holding so that’s good.
-what should We clean it with
-best procedure to close the slide with this Broken pin and/or leak (We have to close it to bring it to the mechanic you all suggested in central Florida and want to make sure it doesn’t leak everywhere once it may closed again.

5. Kitchen sink hoses- we have sprung a significant leak under the sink and it rained into stove top in the lower bay where all those wires are. Once we have someone repair or replace the faucet and piping what do you suggest we protect or cover the underbelly wiring with once it’s all dry.
Once discovered , Brian did turn off that part of the water to the galley. That was convenient so we could still use the the bathroom sink shower etc.

So many thing to learn, thank you all for your wisdom,
Kimberly

I've just retired after 33 years of university teaching and hope to finally get a Newell (very used of course).  I look forward to browsing this forum and learning from the years of experience represented here. --  Bill

As the title says, I have a 02 #746 The fan control on the drivers side is on the lowest setting and will not respond to higher fan control positions.

Thus far I found a clicking relay on the small relay rack behind the dash (per Newell service), I replaced the relay, no change.

I swapped the drivers side blower control wiring over to the passengers side to make sure the switch was ok, I ran the passengers side on all speeds of the drivers switch control, it worked so the switch is ok.

We swapped the two resistors that were next to all the relays no change in drivers side blower, assuming two resistors for the two blower controls, no change.

I am not sure what else to try at this point, other than rerouting the pass side into the drivers in the short term. I know that is not the fix. but it'll only be a few months before the fall is here and one definitely need to have a working defrost system to clear those windows up front.

I am unable to check the resistor at the blower motor cause well I cant even see the thing. I am assuming there is a resistor at the motor, could be wrong on this.

I am not afraid to tear the dash down but I just have no idea how its all put together and I don't want to break something yanking on it. I've asked Creslie if there are any step by step directions, I kind of doubt it since each rig is different

Oh the joy of trying to fix things, nothing like having cold ac but not have the cool running over your face cause you cant move the air!! LOL, LOL  not funny but if I don't laugh I may cry!

it seems that newell has a specific hydraulic pump on our coaches that is made just for newell.  btw,  the pump is the black squarish thing on the bottom right of the engine.  with the huge hydraulic lines coming off of it.  you would need to make sure yours is the same as who knows if they might have made a few different ones.

it is made by Geariek.    and sold to only one distributor in tulsa oklahoma

part number is GT7899

the distributor is

Hydraquip Distribution - Tulsa OK (918) 663-3661

when i called geariek and gave them the part number he said immediately it is for a newell coach.

it is much cheaper to buy directly from hydraquip than from newell.   enourmously cheaper.

sounds like they either stock only one or none but geariek said they can make one in 1-2 weeks.

Hey fellow Newell owners! We just purchased #637 and drove her home to Florida from Arizona. What a beauty she is however we have been having some charging issues along our 4 day adventure back to Florida. Now home we realize that yes, the the cranking batteries are new however our house batteries are toast and need to be replaced yesterday. Tom has been an amazing resource of information to us from the start and we are so thankful to him and this site.
We are trying to locate 4 AGM batteries and having some difficulty getting them fast. I did locate 4 Lifelines but they are pricey which made me begin to consider Battleborn or equivalent Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries.
Our coach has 2 ProSine 3.0 inverters and only 4 house batteries dated 11/08.  I want to make the best longer term decision knowing we will probably go with solar down the road and enjoy boon-docking.

My question is, how many BB batteries do I need for (2) 3000 watt inverters and how is the install different that standard AGM batteries?

Thank you in advance.

We are Jenn and Gary...and will be purchasing a Class A within the next 18-20 months. We're here to learn as we research the brand of coach we'll be purchasing. We have a home in Kansas (Wichita area) and another in Texas (Waxahachie). When we retire full time in the next 24 months, Texas will likely become home base 6 months of the year while we travel the U.S. the balance. So although we won't be considered full time, we'll still be away from home a significant amount of time.

We have narrowed the brand down to Newell and Prevost. If a Newell, it will be in the 2006-2009 range, while in Prevost it appears our price range falls in the 2002-2006 range depending on a few variables. First glance on the comparisons it appears to the rookies we are that we can get comparable quality for a lower price in the Newell, while the Prevost may include some amenities that we haven't noticed in the Newell. For example, our "must-have" list includes an outdoor grill and entertainment system. I see those fairly regularly in the Prevost coaches, while I've yet to find a Newell with that added feature. My assumption is that it can be added, but we will lose some bay space.

So...feel free to reach out and introduce yourselves. We'll have lots of questions for you and hopefully, we can learn from the experts before we step out on this upcoming venture and make it as enjoyable for us as possible.

Ron Skeen’s coach. Broke down because power steering stopped working.  Got off to the side of the road. Will steer when in neutral and getting rpms to 1500 but loses it again when rpms drop back to idle. Fan isn’t running either. Hydraulic pump? Thanks

Frank
