Hi Guys,

I have been lurking here for quite a while as I have always been a Newell fan. The time has come for a new coach and a new adventure. I have been looking at '06 models as I like the body updates and while I was very tempted by coach #772, I passed as I couldn't see living with only 3 slides.

I'm just starting a deal on this '06 but would appreciate some input from the experts before the point of no return:

It is recently serviced and in good condition but the radiant floor heating in the bathroom has failed (heating pad short) and the massagers in the captains chairs are also toast. I'm told that both of these are not practical to repair due to cost. Any future resale issues with these problems or are they common?

I intend to fulltime in it for a year or two. I love the side entry floor plans but hadn't really considered that the galley is pretty small and the fridge is tiny with this layout. It is also a single bath coach. Any thoughts on trying to full time with this layout? Mistake? I know that I would need food storage underneath.

Anything else I should consider or look at carefully on this one?

Also, what is a good annual maintenance budget for a 10 year old Newell driven about 25K miles a year? I like to keep my coaches in pristine condition so I tend to fix just about anything that goes wrong. I have owned American Coaches which I used for race track coaches and they were pretty low maintenance but are tinker toys compared to a Newell. I have have pretty advanced technical/mechanical skills but don't see working on it much myself unless it is an emergency. I am hoping that a Newell is a bit more forgiving than the Marathon coaches my friends own that need their technicians to service many of the systems.

I would like to replace the PSG thermostat with one like a NEST that can be read/changed from the internet and that is a 'learning' stat.  Sometimes we forget to turn on the A/Cs when it is cool at night and our dog suffers when we are gone for a while.  I want something that will alert me when the temps go about 80 or below 60 (or similar).  Any options for us geeks? 

Has anyone tried one of the smart locks on the coach to make opening the door easier?  it would work with the dead bolt when you leave but would still need to pull on the 'regular' door latch...

Happy Birthday to my beautiful, wonderful wife!  Unfortunately for her Birthday the coach gave her problems as the water pump kept shutting off.  If we waited a few minutes and flipped the switch in the kitchen the pump would work for a few minutes and then seemed to lose prime.  The previous owner has the 12-volt pump disconnected (which is his MO for anything that fails...) so not sure if it works or not but I would like both systems working.  
Curtis at Newell said there is either a water valve (we have two a blue handled ball valve and a red handled ball valve) or the system has an automatic fill valve.
I know I have seen two faucet inlets in the bay to fill the tank - I can't remember what they are marked though... I think one is marked 'city something' and 'inlet something' (maybe) ... I will send pictures when I get home after while... 


Fresh Water and filtration circuit info: 
I talked to Curtis at Newell (excellent info and was very friendly and knew his stuff!) and they said that the water going to the ice maker/refrigerator and to the little water spigot next to the kitchen sink faucet BOTH go through a set of TWO filters (Everpure - will order new ones on Amazon).  This water comes either from the tank or from the city water supply so it will be well filtered.  I will be adding a UV filter inline also after these two filters so the water will not have any contaminants... 
The REST of the coaches water supply goes through a single (rope type) filter system that gets rid of sediment before getting inside including feeding into the tank from the city water fill.  

Alie, my wife of 22 years passed away yesterday morning of complications of colon cancer. she had an exceedingly rare case and in the end there were no treatments capable of arresting it. I am in awe of the grace with which she handled the indignities of continual losses of body control, she only complained once saying: "this sucks". I know I would have been far less gracious.

What can I say about her? She was full of life, contributing to the betterment of her community. She loved being Jewish. She really liked our 93 coach and the trips we took. She really enjoyed the short time we spent with Rhonda and Richard. I'm sure she would have enjoyed meeting more of the guru's.

She ate healthy and exercised regularly. According to the doctors she would have died 5 years ago had she not lived this way. According to her friends, before the cancer become known, she told them these past 5 years were the best in her entire life.

She made me a better person and I will really miss her.

Well plans changed and instead of spending the winter in Vermont this year we decided to go back to our winter spot near Yuma az on BLM land. My front ac unit has decided to stop blowing cold air, gets down to about 70. It is around 100 outside, 90 inside.
The other ac units are blowing in the 50's. The front was working fine but on start up I was watching the amp gauge and it pegged out max then settled down this ac is also on the same leg as the back ac. I have been having problems with the blower motor and it finally went on the front unit so I pulled the mid ac blower unit and put it in the front because it seems to provide more cold air and I need the front cooler than what the mid ac can do. The Mid ac blower motor is a new replacement from newell which says they can no longer get replacements. So now not being able to get cold air from the front ac unit i moved the good blower motor back to the mid ac and between the back ac unit and the mid unit the coach is tolerable but the front is still very hot. Mind you we are off grid so we run the gene for about 5 hrs in the later part of the day/night. 
The ac units were checked out and recharged last year by Newell and the front ac unit was working very strong before it stopped producing cold air. 

Anyone know of a supplier for the blower motors?

I filled the tank up with a gallon of 50/50 antifreeze and the guage is still showing 'LO'.  
Help!  Do I need to 'reset' it somehow???  Cold showers in the morning I guess :-(
