MOT show it is pending.. Anyone knows who might be looking at my old coach?

Ok 701 has a logitec remote system for all of the av.. Does anyone know if it's upgradeable to ipad control? And do I just grab the app? I'll call Newell Monday but didn't know if anyone else knew..

What oil weight are you using in your Series 60?
Any particular brand?
How much is required for an oil and filters change?

Also same questions for the 20KW Kohler generator?

Started a blog and will post our travels from time to time. Not really OCD about it but for those interested in routes, parks, conditions, etc. will try to include that kind of information. If you have suggestions, please send them along as we are Newell newbies, but not new to the RV lifestyle. New to possible full-timing. Safe travels to all!

On a '87 - anyone know what Newell might have used the latch off of? Can't imagine they mfg'd it - but, it's possible.

i am riding on a prevost h3 45 right now as i write this. i think the ride and feel is similar to my newell.

i had not ridden in one before and didnt know what to feel. rides nice i have to say. maybe just a little firmer ride but hard to tell for sure.

am in alberta going from calgary to lethbridge. get to see darlene tonite for the 1st time in 5 weeks. longest we have ever been apart.

I just bought 4 replacement bushings for my slide pin locks and when I went to install them they wouldn't fit .... They went in about 3/8" and that was it.
Well I called Newell and shocked that I got my first "I don't know what to tell you" from Mark, a tech who does slides. He also told me that my coach had Valid slides and didn't know that 645 was a prototype and that my coach was one of the last HWH coaches produced. The reason for bringing this up is that Newell today did not know that HWH offered 2 different slide pin lock receivers. One used the conventional rubber bushings we all know about and the other was what Newell used in later models before the shift to Valid. The second receiver has a 3/4" inset retainer clip that is blue in color and 1/4" thick and it moves freely in a channel cut into the receiver. It is made of nylon and never needs replacement. Well I had already pounded all the rubber ones in with a mallet, using lube. All 4 X $25.00 and $15.00 shipping were not just a waste of money, but I was given my first misinformation from Newell ever !!! How could Mark the slide tech not know that Newell specifically used these receivers that do not require rubber bushings for a long time according to HWH ? So don't waste your $$ like I did until you check for a blue colored,free spinning, internal, retainer ring and if you don't have them you will still need the bushings.

We have a Country Coach owner friend Jim McNeece who did a tremendous amount of leg work to find replacement solenoids for the six pack valves. Jim has had these installed for three months with no problems. I am going to post his email verbatim. I am going to buy 20 or so of these if they are still available. If you want some, let me know and I'll buy extra and bring them to the rally.

I just heard from a source in Chicago regarding possible replacement plungers.

Through much searching, I found a photo of a Skinner plunger #V5-207. It looks similar to what we have. Also, the HWH valves have a V5983-xxx part number printed on the coil clip. Here is a photo:



While the pic comes from PLC, the source I found is Dymatic (http://www.oemsurplus911.com/skinner/skinner_parts.htm). The salesman quoted $17 each (for a 20 piece buy). He measured one and provided the dimensions. The stem diameter is 0.441 inches and the length is 1.184 inches. Exactly the same diameter as the HWH and only 0.01 inches longer (I don't think the length difference is significant).

I do not have the dimensions or material for the seat. The entire part number is V5-207-N. I would guess the N is the type of seat material. Skinner uses NBR to denote Nitrile, T for PTFE, U for Urethane, V for FKM, and so forth. Perhaps N is Nitrile????

If they accept returns, I'm going to order 20. I will keep you informed.

Let's all welcome Robert Miller, new owner of coach 390. Bob already exists on the forum as Airplaneguy. After careful interviewing of prospective adopters of Coach 390, otherwise known as Jr. the Wonder Newell, Bob proved himself as a worthy caretaker.

Bob heads out of snowy West Virginia first thing in the morn.

After spending a couple of days with Bob inspecting the rig, I feel comfortable that he will fit right in with the gang.

I would be remiss if I didn't add that there was a fair amount of seller's remorse. Rhonda, the boys, the inlaws, and I had many great adventures in Jr. and the coach was the gateway to meeting all of you.
