I am going to replace the felt runners in my slide windows so they actually open. They are brittle and clogged with dirt. I called Newell parts and they sell it for $3 a linear foot. I assume that price is reasonable. Can any of you tell if there is somewhere else to buy it cheaper? Also are there any special tricks to changing these?
OK so here is what happened today. A little young lady about 5-6 years old collected a number of San Dollars on the beach here at Morro Bay. She came back to the tents so proud that she had found so many Sand Dollars that were in such good condition and she proudly displayed them to her Grandparents.
I overheard and asked to see them and she was so proud when she showed them to me! I asked if she could sell me one for $.25 and she said that she would. OK here is where it gets interesting. I give her the quarter, show it and give it to Patti and she promptly drops it!! (not so worried about the $.25 but it was a great Sand Dollar).
So a little later I ask the little young lady if she would sell me another one. She does and this one is even better. A neighbor comes by, we have a beer and I set the Sand Dollar on a post next in our site. Yep, as you would guess Mike opens the beer and leans on the Sand Dollar!!! these are very fragile and the thing breaks into many pieces.
Moral of the story; if you get something fragile like a Sand Dollar take a picture of it right away or don't let anyone near it.

My windows are very difficult to open as they have 32 years of Texas dust and clay in the tracks. The felt tracks just look shot. Where do I find these so I can pull out the old ones, clean things up and then install new ones? Also any tips on doing this?
Also the gaskets on most of my bay doors are in rough shape. Where is he best place to find these so I can replace these as well. Again an tips of doing this? And adjusting the doors as well?
So my new old rig has steps that are stuck slightly extended. Before I left Texas one of the guys looked underneath and said the electric motor was shot and it's easier to just replace the whole thing. True or have any of you done these before and just replaced the motor?

My CD player quit for no reason. Tom gave me a unit he removed from his coach. As Suzy & I had lunch today we enjoyed our "new" CD player.
THANK YOU....................................
Yesterday, my digital key pad showed all numbers red and nothing worked. Called Newall, and they suggested first try a resent since to replace the keypad is a big deal. In my 2001, I removed the fuse #17 in the bedroom for about 5 minutes. Reinstalled the fuse, and WOW, the key pad now works again. You may want to keep this note for future reference, I sure have done so.

I know a number of you spend time in the Yuma area in the winter.
it might be nice if we could arrange a weekend or some time to arrange to meet there. for darlene and i it is a 200 mile jaunt so close.
tom
howdy,
i know many of you have been where it is hot this summer. on our recent trip it was over 100 degrees as we were in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio....and yes 100-105 degrees is warm. but just kinda not so warm when you live in Mesa AZ. This year we have already had 86 days over 100 degrees and 21 days over 110.
this past week has been quite toasty. hit 117 yesterday and been over 110 for most of the past ten days. below is a snapshot from the local mesa online weatherstation that isnt far from our house.
yesterday it rained at our house for a few brief moments, just enough to wet the streets. over 110 and rain....sometimes the "its a dry heat" thing doesnt pan out.
i have learned that 100-108 or so is perfectly ok. 108 to 117 is just plain hot.
so, if you come to visit us in the summer, then you are always welcome to stay in the house with us. darlene likes it in the low 70's.
but....the winters are incredible....
happy travels
tom
