Is there anyone in the Tucson-Phoenix-Yuma that is good at inspecting the coach I am interested in? A couple years ago I purchased an MCI 102C3 from the Spanos family estate of Alex Spanos (Owner of the then San Diego Chargers) the bus had low miles and great exterior as it was housed indoor and professionally driven and serviced. Unfortunately, I did not have the coach inspected and I ended up having mounds of trouble with the coach. This time around I want to be far more thorough in my pre-purchase inspection of the coach. So, if anyone knows of anyone that is good at inspecting Newell coaches I would be very interested in speaking with them.

Thank you,

Jeff

Was losing air for past week to both toilets and can’t find a leak. Compressors kick on about every 1 minute . Tonight I can’t build enough air to flush either toilet. Do you see air lines breaking inside coach that’s not at a fitting ?

Happy to join. I'm from the mid Michigan area and travel with my wife Ashleigh, our son Cole (9), daughter Camryn (7), and Winston our Golden Retriever.  Often times my mother also travels with us.

I'm here to gather information and avoid any mistakes when purchasing a mid 90s Newell so that it will be ready for our planned summer trip out west.

At present, I own a Wanderlodge, two fifth wheels, and a travel trailer that I will have to part with before the Newell purchase; otherwise, my wife might insist on me sleeping in one of them indefinitely!

I’ll be exploring around and hope to post some questions after I’ve gained more knowledge and get serious about a particular coach to purchase.

Thanks in advance,
Ben Berry

Saw an interesting post from the folks at PDI today on social media that I thought might be interesting here…

‼️ Series 60 Owners ‼️Have you checked for cracks in your OEM manifold??They are notorious for cracking behind the turbo flange. Our Big Boss manifold eliminates issues with cracking & leaking while providing you with lower exhaust gas temperatures & an increase in MPG. ??‍?

Does anyone know if there was a 21,000 lb or greater hitch available for the P2000i era coaches? I'm looking upgrade from a Freightliner truck conversion to a nicer, more refined coach but still need the ability to pull my stacker trailer.

I'm helping a new friend here in the park with his Wonderlodge it had few air leaks and a bad PPV valve he is a gear head so he's doing all the work I'm finding with my Biddle leak detector and handing him tools. After removing the PPV valve and the manifolds that tie all the brakes and supply together we dissected the PPV valve we found a bad diaphragm, found a new one in a truck parts place for $25 and changed out the diaphragm and not the whole valve. My point of this whole thing is we could have saved many hours of removing the manifold when all we had to do is remove 4 screws clean the body and put in the new diaphragm and be done with it saving 3 hours of labor. Having never been under a Wonderlodge I found a large portion of there air plumbing is soft copper which is pretty nice.

I thought I conquered all loose trims before I took the coach in for paint. Last week I did a walk around and noticed the third bay door lower trim on the left side was hanging. The VHB adhesive had dried up and come loose. One tiny rivet kept it from laying on the floor. I removed the trim and applied copious amounts of 3M adhesive remover while using a long handled single edge razor to scrape off the tape. Thankfully it was only on the trim side. The heat gun didn't work so well and I didn't want to cook the new paint. Either way, I did get it clean and used a body shop paint cleaner to make sure there was no residue. From there I used a small sanding block and brightened up the aluminum trim and bay door while again, applying cleaner. New 3M VHB tape and it went on solidly. Instead of the rivets, I put in #8 stainless steel screws that were cut down to fit. Much better securement since the rivet doesn't really expand in the well type hole of the trim piece. All in all, I had to replace the adhesive on three bay door trims. The rest of the coach is solid for now.
