Not sure if this is the right spot for this question, but I felt it was related to the category. As a newbie contemplating a coach purchase, I'm curious how realistic it is for rigs the size (and weight!!) of Newells to boondock and manage off the beaten path locations. I wouldn't be looking to do this as a primary activity, but, on occasion, I'd love to find a remote spot to be one with nature. I've read other sites about big rig boondocking, but I didn't find much talk in regard to Newell.
Spyder Wire fun.
Dads coach had several switches not working or not lighting up. I grabbed my wiz kid mechanic and we dug into it. We found corrosion on the Cat 5 connectors and the only way to get to them was to remove the panel and start taking it apart until we could get to them. Fun times with the dozens of wires going to it. We tried to clean the connections but in many of them the corrosion was the only thing keeping them together.
Talked to the guys at Spyder Controls in Canada and got the connectors on order. They are mighty proud of them at $120 each. We will also have to put new ends on all 18 Cat 5 wires going to the panel.
Fun times, for sure!
Hello all,
Does anybody have a source for bezels on the square gauges over the driver ? ( Line voltages, amps, DC draw etc)
The gauge itself is held in place by the plastic front black bezel with 2 screws on the sides (inside) hooked in 2 thin metal retainers molded into the plastic of the bezel. When the side retainers break off ( and they do easily after a few years of heat) , the gauge falls inside the cabinet.
I could use 4 bezels......plan B is silicone on the back but I'd rather do it right if I can find the bezels.....
Any ideas ?
I spend the winter in Las Vegas, they have hard water full of calcium and minerals which have stopped up the faucets and on the washing machine I think it is holding the valve open letting it fill on it's own. Is there something I can run in the lines to clean out these minerals that are safe to use? I think I'll invest in a water softener or Citracell cartridge. But I don't know if it will clean up the problem.
Getting one of these for the dog house, hope to make it from Missouri to Idaho without stopping.
We left last Friday after work, every truck stop and rest area were full; we spent a few hours sleeping in the Walmart parking lot, along with 8 other rv’s, south of Mount Vernon, IL.
Finally arrived Saturday evening, after stop and go traffic on 65 from north of Birmingham to Montgomery AL.
Weather has been in the 70’s, cloudy / sunny; much nicer than home no matter what.
Park is nice, beautiful beaches, the fort is interesting, spent most of our time swimming, snorkeling, and losing bait on the fishing poles. We watched the Blue Angels practice for a couple hours today while sitting on the beach.
Great to be able to get some fresh seafood and have a couple of feasts around the campfire for dinner.
We’re headed to the aviation museum on base tomorrow and are headed home Friday.?
No major issues; my driver side wiper won’t run in automatic, it’s either time to replace the air motor or convert to electric.
Scott
We have heard many great things about the Newell brand coach’s and are looking to acquirer one built for the long haul like they are but being nonprofit for over 28 years leaves us with hardly any funds to do so. We travel full time (44-48 weeks a year) on the road and need good quality rigs that will last a lifetime. We are upgrading a very worn out rig and would like to know if there are any owners out there getting ready to sell thier Coach that might be interested in a tax write off for the price of thier Coach? For more info on what we do and who we are you can visit our website at www.Roundupministries.com
Getting ready to by my first Newell 45.8 .3 slide the date codes on the tires are 05/11 michelins no cracks or dry rot stored in side how often would the tires need replacing also is the 365 update something I should do

Anyone have experience with the North American RV Park Directory as offered by Great RV Escapes.com? I'm getting emails offering a trial and claiming that an average nightly rate of $12.72 with full hookups is possible with their membership.
