As cars are beginning to be designed as self driving.. how many would love to have the coach be that way..  even if you had to stay in the drivers seat to monitor everything how cool would that be.. with a new coach approaching 2 million it would seem fairly economical to even buy a new car and steal its self drivinG system.

I think that would be the coolest addition to a coach.

i have been trying to figure out where my small leak is that causes my front drivers side airbag to slowly go down.

so, i have been playing and tracing things for about a week.

i raised the coach all the way up using the leveling system and then used my new 22ton jackstands to keep the front up.  i lowered the coach all the way down...i am too big to get to the front 6 pack without it being raised up.

i identified and verified the location of each solenoid valve.  the same for the air lines coming in and out of the six pack.  what really baffled me for a few days is that someone had written on the yellow air lines what they were in magic marker.....and they were WRONG.

i used the test rig to check pressures.  i did it a little different than richard outlines.  i found the lines that went to the ping tank that feeds the airbags.  i connected one side of the test gauge to the drivers side front airbag and the other side of the gauge to my shop air.  then i used the valve on the gauge to air the bag up to 100 psi and made a note of time.  it leaked down 18 psi in 11 hours.  not sure that is alot or not for sure.

i sprayed alot of kids bubbles on the airbag and as much of anything else i could see.  no bubbles.

while i was under there, i used a magic marker to label the six pack and used a label maker to label each wire.  i marked the airlines (correctly) with magic marker as well.

i also took all six valves out and rebuilt them using my rebuild kit.

i aired everything back up, sprayed some more bubbles on everything and didnt see anything.

i measured the coach height at the front and back wheelwells and made a log and will check in the morning.

hi all,

in my quest for rebuilding air solenoid valves for the leveling system i have discovered a few things.  i have run across 4 different solenoids that were used.  3 can use the rebuild kits i make and 1 cannot.

the 3 that can have very similar brass main bodies.  however the orfice cavity is slightly different on each.  2 of them (the newer ones) have a smaller orfice than the older KIP valves like was on my 90.

still functionally identical other than the older kip valves let air in or out just a little faster.

so there is the basis for my question.  the rear of the coach weighs alot more for sure and on mine, it raises slower than the front does.  there are 6 airbags on the back and 2 on the front on mine.  i am thinking of using the bigger orfice valve bodies for the RAISE function on the rear six pack.  anyone see any issue with that?

The internet allows so many to easily share in the wanderlust lifestyle of others. Some here have blogs, many other fulltime RVers do too.

At some point the cherished fulltime RV lifestyle evolves into a new direction. Many, like some here, return to a sticks & bricks life, with part time use of their Newell. Some, like the Wynns, Our Odyssey and Technomadia, extend their exploration to the water, becoming boat people.

I'm sure there are plenty that for health reasons exchange their RV for a retirement community. It is interesting how Escapees, in Livingston, TX, offers skilled care inside the RV, for those temporarily disabled.

Being a planner, my mind wanders ahead questioning how long we will be fulltime Newell explorers. My estimate is a decade.

It is time for us to replace the two 8D chassis batteries. They are currently Interstate 8DMHD, They are four years old. I killed them by not keeping them fully charged. Is there a better alternative to these batteries? I don't think I am ready to invest 700.00 each  in AGM yet.

Looking to dress up the front and possibly the rear of coach w Newell decals (6 letters for front to go betw headlights-maybe 3.5-4 in. tall-and 6 for rear- maybe 5 in. tall) Color can vary, prefer chrome colored. For whatever reason, cannot find them online as of yet. Anyone know where to look before I check a local sign and banner shop? Thanks

This week darlene and i got a 40 ford 4 dr deluxe.   it has a new frame, power brakes, coil over suspension, power steering, chevy zz4 crate motor, vintage air and modern gauges.

it is really cool.  we wanted a 4 door so we could easily take other people with us.

i have wanted a hot rod for a long time and we finally decided to go ahead and do it.

i have a world class hot rod builder as a friend and he helped me vett the cars we looked at.

this one had been in the same family since 1981 and had the full deal restoration/updating about 8 or 9 years ago.
