Just a question, does the engine cooling fan run all the time ?       The reason I ask is because I never paid it much attention until last weekend while on a trip, stopped at a rest area doing a walk around I noticed it was not running, I raised the rear cover and un plugged the relay and it came on (high speed) when I re connected it it quit. The water temp was @190 at the time. After setting there for a few minutes on high idle the fan came on (high) then when the temp went down it stopped.  Just wanting to know, it seems to me it should run all the time to cool the air to air cooler.   Thanks,  Ken    1998 coach 430

I meant coach 473..duh sorry

Gang,

I have often admired coaches that had super nice shades on the front and side windows.  I thought that they were typically a factory option which required snaps / hooks to be installed into the coach body.  Well, I ran across these and ordered them.  It took about 10 days to get them.

Magneshade.com

They are made for your specific year / model coach.  There is a limited selection of colors and even an option to include a graphic on the shade.

They work by attaching super duper magnets to the windows with 3M VHB disks and these magnets attach to magnets in the shade itself.

Putting the shade on is simply a matter of getting the magnets close to one another....click, click, click and its attached. Taking down is just as simple.

I did not take measurements, but I really think that the coach is staying cooler with the shade on.  (I like to leave the roller shade up because the dogs like to see what is going on).

Anyway, I thought I would share with you guys a product that is actually better than I hoped it would be.

Cheers,
bill
ps.  In the pics, the material looks like sunbrella fabric, but it is not. You can see through it from inside the coach. It is more like a mesh than a fabric and seems to be very durable.

I would like to get some recommendations from knowledgeable members for available "Newell Inspectors" who would meet me with a seller and go over my prospective purchase to tell me as much as possible that I just don't know about Newell's and motor coaches in general.
Does any one provide this service? Does Newell provide that service? Sort of a Home Inspector for Newell's. It's a service worth paying well for. And I would pay well for it. Also, if any one makes a suggestion and another member has a differing opinion of that person I would appreciate that information also. My budget for a purchase is in the under one hundred thousand dollar area so making a mistake on a vintage unit could be very costly for me. Thanks, Mike

So my wife and I are getting ready to buy a 1985 Newell.  It looks to be in great condition with the exception of needing a new front windshield and gasket.  Has new tires and batteries and appears to in great shape.  So my question is there anything to pay attention to or any issues with the 1985s?  What can one expect to pay for a good condition 1985, I have seen them all over the place for price.

Thank you in advance

Jason

Does anyone know where I could find the correct replacement air springs for my 1987 Newell. I have contacted both Newell & Ridewell with no luck. They are Firestone bags with the stamp 1T15L 2 on the bag itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Undecided

I have to laugh at my OCD behavior when it comes to keeping the AC cold. However, Rhonda does not like hot temperatures, and when the bride ain't happy........

We were boondocked in a parking lot in Lexington KY for the Horsey Hundred cycling weekend, and the front AC was just not quite cooling like a I thought it should. I installed a temperature readout for the front AC and the output air was only getting to about 62 degrees. I remembered it getting in the low fifties previously, so my immediate conclusion was that I had lost a compressor or some other catastrophe. My notebook confirmed 52 degree air.

Diagnostics show both compressors running and pulling proper amps.

Here is where the duh huh comes in. The generator dumps its exhaust air right into the AC units. When we plugged into a campground last night, the outlet temp went back to low fifties.

It didn't help that the coach was low to the ground in the parking lot to get it level.

Most of you probably already know this. It just didn't register with me. Next time I am boonied in a parking lot I will figure some way of getting cooler air to the AC units.

howdy gang,  this is about as structured as i am going to be.  things may move around as we need.

in general, any night we are at the park will be a potluck for those that want to participate.  that has turned out best from other rallys.  tow nights dinner is provided (one by the owners of the RV park and the other by Karl Blade and Newell)

have questions ready for Karl Blade and his team for the question answer session.

bring any parts you want to trade or give away as well, there is a time to gab and swap

we will help anyone with problems they have.  the guru brain trust is pretty powerful.

darlene and i along with michael and georgia day will be in ruidoso saturday mid day.  we are really looking forward to meeting those of you we already know and those we have not met yet in person.

for those attending, i encourage you to spend as much time as you can hanging out with the gang,  you will not find a better bunch of folks anywhere.

the park is at nearly 7000 ft and will be in the 70's at day and 40's at night.  and rain showers are common.  so the weather should be wonderful.

Does anyone have experience with an air leak detector that they were successful with.  I have several small leaks that I cannot hear.   Thanks
