The alternator on my coach (#121, 1986 40') has never worked. We have been restoring the parked coach so it hasn't been an issue. I removed the alternator and took it to an alternator shop. They bench tested it and it performed well so I Re-installed it the same I found it. You guessed it - it still doesn't work. Leads me to believe it isn't wired correctly. I have attached a picture to illustrate how it is connected. Any words of wisdom?

I nabbed this link from the Wanderlodge forum.

Pretty amazing work. It will keep you busy for an evening or two.

I bought this on ebay for $55 and its as old as I am but after cleaning up the potentiometer  and the battery connection it works fantastic, its found more leaks  than I ever could with bubbles. Found a leak in the bottom on my drivers side tag axle air bag and many more!
It looks like a Ray Gun from my cartoons days.

Starting the painting of the engine/transmission and chassis. With this now being oil leak free, it was time to take care of 30 years of built up crud. I am starting with the silver paint (High heat) and will clear coat it all in high heat gloss. Chassis will receive a rolled on coat of Por 15 chassis paint. Takes a bit of time to mask things. I hope to make it look like it's 5 years old under there instead of 30!

I have been wiring in an electric trailer brake. While doing so, I cleaned up the front relay/fuse/terminal board. I have three separate ground posts on the upper left side. None of them have a large wire that I can see that goes to a negative pole. I believe all wires are small gauge with the 10/32 post being a binding connector. I would like to put a #12 jumper across all three posts to help balance the return path. I did verify with my meter that they are all grounds to chassis. Is there a specific reason Newell wired these up in separate groups? DDEC? I do not see any harm in providing a path of lesser resistance but wanted to pick everyones mind. Bonus points if anyone knows what the potentiometer is for!

I had bought a can from an eBay seller who no longer has any left. I am in my quest for restoring the underside of the coach and need some of this magical coating. Seems like it is as rare as hens teeth. Is there an engine paint silver that's close to DD's version?

I have three pocket doors on my Coach (Coach number 1517) and two open and close perfectly .  The third door opens perfectly but when it closes, it stops about 1 inch short.  There are no delays or strange sounds, it just stops about an inch short.

I am going to Newell in March for the annual maintenance and it can wait until then, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening

Ken

We have 60k and want to purchase a Newell or Wanderlodge LXI, model years 95’ to 2002’, Series 60, Tag, Aqua Hot, and a slide would be great!
-We live in SW Florida and will travel for the right coach!

I appreciate your response, we expect to put additional money into the coach and would prefer to select the updates ourselves. I’m trying to learn what to look for in the Newell world. Our budget is what it is- so Im looking for the best combination of mechanical specifications, floor plan, and price! Please share, specific years, model numbers, and features of Newell coaches that would be important to know in our search?
Thanks,
Victor

Thank you,
