Forum: Air Operated Systems and Leaks
- No Replies

these valves fail in just a couple of ways.

1.  the plunger seal gets scored such that it no longer completely covers the orfice in the body of the valve.  only solution is to replace the plunger.  how does that happen you ask?   our air systems have moisture in them and cause rust in the tanks.  that rust flakes off and gets between the seal and the orfice and causes it to score allowing air to get by when it should be sealed.

2.  the 12v coil.  that is very very rare.

3.  an o ring failure.  there are 2 orings on the outside on the bottom as you see where they go in the picture.  and one internally.  rare failure too

4.  in the picture below here is a valve body that has a metal failure in place where the o ring goes.  you can see it is mis shappened.  i am making the assumption that this happens if the valve is overtightened on the six pack manifold.  so dont over tighten them.  make sure you have some o ring grease on the rings and tighten snugly.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all.

My 300 amp alternator went out so I replaced it with a new one but the new one has an internal regulator and the old had an external Pentex PX 4000 regulator. The shop that sold me the new one gave me a diagram and explained that I only need the blue ignition wire in addition to battery and ground but did not mention doing anything with the existing regulator. It is not working properly and I now believe I was supposed to disconnect the wires from the old regulator but not sure what to do with them. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Thanks

Ok hopefully an electrical guru will validate if my circuit drawing for wiring up a relay to power my cozy fan that we can't seem to find the  trigger thermostat signal to power it.

I have talked to Rudy (thank you for your time sir!)

So I drew this up hoping I'm doing this right on paper first!

I have an older style aqauhot with the copper coils circling the exterior of th boiler tank.  When I add antifreeze should it be engine antifreeze or boiler antifreeze?  The aqauhot manual says boiler, but several post here say engine.

Which leads to a second question.  Can anyone explain the engine preheat plumbing loop to me?  Is it tied into the engine cooling system etc.

My son brought our coach from Long Island to St Louis today, after going in and out this afternoon the door won't open.
We just bought this coach #599 in August so we're still learning. I can see the air has gone down in the rear  and I do have the
generator running. Also there's a keypad to set in a code for the door which we've never used, would anyone know how
to reset the keypad? Any ideas what to do to get the door to open? Thank You for any ideas you may have.
