On the driver side rear where the 50 amp cord goes into the transfer switch (I assume) there is a relay similar to the heater relays etc. A 110 plug is wired into this as well as two 3 wire cords going back into the interior. A converter/charger is plugged into the 110. Any ideas as the what this relay does?? No 110 at the plug and the charger has been decommissioned at some point. Relay appears to be closed when powered up.
I got here because the power goes on/off when gen running, ok with shore and inverter.??
The transfer switch is humming a bit louder than I remember as well.
As usual thanks in advance, Mark
I am going to be removing the classics furnace from under the bed to make way for the Alde hydronic system....I will give it to anyone in need of parts. It is in great condition never used by po. The omly missing item I can find is the exhaust which was removed when the bus was repainted and blanked over

Steve
Does anyone have any idea about this thermostat that also has a square button on the left?!
Just received my SilverLeaf Electronics VMSpc today. They sent the right plug
When setting it up there were two DD S60 engine options, one for 1994-1997 engines and one for I assume all others as it didn't have any years associated with it. My coach was built in January 1994 so I assume the engine was possibly/likely built in 93. Which engine model should I go with?
I tried them both in the software and couldn't see a difference, but that was just with my engine idling. My engine plate on the valve covers says DDEC III/IV if that makes a difference.
Second question is when I ordered it I told them I had a 1994 Newell with a DD60, DDEC III. They sent the CD for the V.4.0.8 software version which the website clearly says is for 2007 and newer coaches. I went ahead and installed the 3.0.x version off there web site which was stated s being or older engines.
Is it possible he version 4.0.X will work with my older DD60 and would there be any advantages?

Will be a nice coach for someone...
Since we have a place in Colorado and will be spending our summers there I'm thinking of buying a 4x4 vehicle to leave there rather than towing our Tahoe from home each year. I want an suv smaller than our Tahoe that is still flat towable and seats 4 adults. There are so many 4x4 trails near us that I want something offroad capable with low range and good clearance. On my short list are Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Commander, Hummer H3, older 4Runner/Lexus GX470, Xterra manual. Had a couple Liberty's but want something more capable offroad and better driving onroad. It's an hour to town just for groceries. I would love a Range Rover or Discovery but concerned about reliability.
It will be left over the winter where we get 150" of snow so not looking for new. I do have electricity there so can leave a battery maintainer hooked to it but it will be uncovered.
What are your thoughts? It'll probably be split 50/50 on and off road. We're fairly close to Lake City so the Alpine Loop is a good example of the trails we'll be doing with the ability to do more challenging trails a +.
Adobe Scan now has a phone app that made it easy to create a PDF of our owner's manual. The App only recognizes 25 pages of type at a time so 3 files were necessary to complete the manual. Hope it may be useful to a Guru or two.
So going thru my checklist before leaving for the desert. No horns. Neither works, no relay click. Where do I start?
Figured to ask here before tearing into it.
86 model.
Hi People. This is my first time posting on the site but I have had my newel for 6 years and been registered to the site for 2 or 3 years. This site is a real plus for a newel owner and the info from
all of you is big help on these complicated rigs. Since my Newel had a new set of michelins installed
6 years ago when I bought it I felt sure I would not have any tire problems but here is what happened on my last trip back from Montana to Ocean Shores. I was on Interstate 90 and had just passed Anaconda, MT. and was going 60 MPH when my right front tire blew. It was loud and violent. There were no other cars near me but I did take up 1/2 of the lane next to me. By the time I had coasted down to about 20 MPH the right front tire locked up and that sent me rite off the road but I came to a stop in a good place off the freeway. I got out and looked at the damage and the tire had come off the rim and wrapped around the axle, jammed and locked up. The wheel was shot and the brake hose was tore in 2. I called Les Swab in Dear lodge. They sent a truck out. I took this man half a day to get the tire off with a grinder and cutting tools plus it is hard to get a newel in the air when it is setting on the rim there is no room to get a jack under it. All told it took most of the day by the time he found a wheel, Brake hose and 2 Michelins for both front tires. My bill was $1800
for this which I thought was a good deal for something that took all day. I can't say enough good things about this place or there employee. When I got home I replaced all the rear tires also. What did I learn from this. Keep both hands on the wheel at all times, Keep the speed down and replace your tires at 5 years exspecially the fronts. If you made it this far on this post Thank You. This is a great site with nice people.
Hello Gurus!
I just bought my first Newell. I have owned many diesel pushers over the last 30 years. When I was racing I was sponsored by Winnebago and Monaco for many years. I really loved having my home at the track and my family with me. I always wanted a Newell so I started with a 2000 #564. I think it going to be a great platform for all the modifacations I want to do. My upgrade list is extensive and I really appreacate all the great information available on this forum. It makes a big difference when I was deciding to purchase a 20 year old coach to have a support group that is available here!
Once I finish everything the plan is to use it at NHRA races next year for meetings. I just hope we have races again next year!
Thanks everyone for the support!
Jim
