This was sent to me by a friend from facebook. Don't know if it was a just for fun shot, or real. I have seen similar things in Mexico "back in the day" on highway transport buses.

My 1984 Newell with a DD 6v92 engine will not shut off. I just brought it home after filling it up with fuel and cannot get the engine to stop. I tried the kill switch on the dash and the kill switch in the rear panel but neither works. My wife says the rear kill switch has about 13 v coming in and around 11.8 to 12 going out.

I have no idea where the fuel pump or equivalent is.

What do I do to stop the engine other than waiting for it to run through 170 gals of fuel?

The engine has been difficult to kill for several months but I could do it by putting it into gear and then hitting either kill switch. My phone number is 512-923-6099 if anyone wants to call.

When I look at my coach with north of 250,000 miles on it....I can't help but think that it is just now getting going.  Newell likes to say that these are "Million mile machines".   With proper care and maintenance I don't see why that would not be true.

To understand more about the fleet of Newells on the road would you reply to this thread and share your coach number, model year and miles on odometer?

I will take the data and produce a graph that should be interesting.  (My prediction is that the distribution will be bi-modal with some coaches being used for transportation and some as fairly fixed second homes...but I will let the data speak for itself).

Cheers,
Bill

Brian was driving the Newell home just now and the passenger front tire (new tire) literally flew off the rim. No notice just gone?. Who would we reach out to manage this?

Hi All,

First of all thanks to everyone for all the comments about the 95 we looked at over the weekend. Based on your input and feedback, we decided to move on from that one and to continue our search, which brings me to my next topic.  I have run across #300, a 1992 38 footer. She looks real nice in the pics (inside and out). I talked to the current owner today and he gave me the low down on all of the coach systems. For the most part, everything sounds pretty good. There were a few issues that he pointed out and I thought I would put them out there for your thoughts.

1. When he put the coach in storage, he apparently did not shut off the propane tanks, just turned the furnace's down. He is not sure what happened but now the furnaces won't fire. Do you think he burned something out in the furnaces or maybe just need to be reset.
2. Leveling: Claims the airbags work great in travel mode but has an issue with the right front in level mode. He just purchased two new 6-packs but has not installed them yet. Thoughts?
3. When hooked into city water, everything functions as it should. When using the fresh water tank, has a small leak. He told me that he hasn't had time to fix it yet but that he would.
4. During last trip the temp gauge on the dash stated getting erratic. He checked the gauge at the back of the coach and it stayed at a constant 180 degrees. He thinks the gauge needs to be replace or repaired.

I got the sense over the phone that he was trying to tell me everything he knew and was not trying to hide anything.
What do y'all think?

We have been going out in our camper for  14 years or so. My wife was not a camper before we met. Now we are starting to look at used NEWELL'S
I have been doing research on different rv's and have come up with NEWELL being the best even used one's.  I am hoping to get advice one them as we go through the process on getting one.
