First, special thanks Tom for the nice welcome. I sure appreciate the thoughtfulness. I just got home the 2500 mile trip in a sedan. I hope never to do it again.
I've slept in my vehicle since 1971. Westphalias (3) and some ski-rigged VWs that slept two. My wife and I whipped a 34' gas Ford with no slides- coast to coast for a few years: 100,000 miles and near worthless to the main stream. We worked in the RV biz for some time and consulted with a few major in the automotive and tech stuff. Soon to be ready to get serious about a coach and resume the road.
I drove four hours yesterday to check out an'86 Newell 40' Detroit w/180k on the chassis and a fresh engine at c. 95k miles. Trans is same date. The coach was built for a Biker named Spencer. I believe Mr. Bob Dunfey also owned the coach. Anyone know this ol' classic dawg? Falling in love.
Once the clear coat is gone, what's a fella to do? That is the question.
Nice to get a chance to learn from others while doing. Thanks, Paul
Coach passed us going e/b on I-44 west of Springfield.
I tried to search for an answer but came up short. I am insured with National Interstate which includes Coach-Net Gold Roadside Package for $89 per year. I recently need the services of a large wrecker and was told that the policy only provides for two hours of service. The two hours was sufficient, but begs the question of what coverage do I have if I need a "low boy" tow for a great distance.
A friend of mine has had good service with a Good Sam Road Protection Policy. I would appreciate advise on which company is the best and provides the most coverage. I expect to pay more than for my present poor policy.

Sustained flood damage, water level was to the bay doors at least the level of the bay door actuators. Several issues listed but obviously water would have been up in the suspension wiring and potentially in the engine wiring systems. Bode air door doesn't work, minor scratches on exterior.
Auctioning off but asking price of $907,000 is way crazy for a 2008 with flood damage.
Has anyone seen these! Sweet!

Might need to get one of these.
The circuit board in my ATS bit the dust. The only purpose for the board is provide a delay when cranking the gennie. I have bypassed the board so we do have gennie power. But the producer of the box, Todd Engineering is long out of business.
What is Newell using these days for ATS? The reason I ask is that I have only found so far 50 amp transfer switches rated for 70 amps on the neutral leg. Or they state for up to 12kw generator. Do any of you know of a ATS rated for higher?
I just want to see what my options are before either sending the board for repair or replacing the ATS.
Thanks!
I'd heard rumors of it, always dismissed as pure fiction. But lo & behold it's true! Newell has built coaches measuring 47' in length.
They're never advertised as such...and because it's a coach we're considering, it's causing a high degree of anxiety on my part. (Can I legally register it ~ or even drive it in California...or other states? Will there be issues fitting in camping or storage spaces?)
I've attached the official sheet I just received. Am I courting disaster?
Saw a nice Newell today, went to say hi and no one was home. I will check in tonight again...
May be helpful:
