After using a stacker for the last year there are several things I have been pondering. The most interesting part is all of the trailers seem to have both or all 3 axles right next to each other. While I understand this would reduce tire wear. It makes it difficult to exit the car once it's in the trailer because of the wheel wells.  

What would happen if you built a trailer  with one axle in front and one at the rear and in essence "suspended" the load between them.  I know reduced tongue weight to almost zero. And you would have the whole inside of the trailer free of tire wells except the back and front 2 1/2 feet. Would make top to bottom doors a possibility  for ease of getting in and out of the trailer when loading.. 

I know there may be a tire scrub issue on the front tires but what if you gave them a little turning ability kind of like a steer tag. Or the front wheels on a tow vehicle. Then have a way to lock them in place when backing up.. Please I know I must be missing something..

As many of you know I have been fighting a hydrUlic leak for the last two months. For those who did not know I've had :

1. control box leak and a loose filter in November.
2. A bad hydraulic pump that pushe hydraulic fluid into the engine oil last week.
3. Friday on way to down stream casino with my wife in joplin missouri we sprang a leak in the main hydraulic line from the pump to the control box.

Well yesterday we were getting ready to leave the casino and when I started the coach it would not go into high idle and the stop/check engine lights would not go off. I shut coach down looked in back and noticed a large amount ( couple gallons of hydraulic fluid on the ground) . Today Had a mobile repair guy come diagnose and it seemed that the hydraulic filter had either been blown off the gasket or the gasket let go. Called newell Sunday to see if there was a check valve or something that might have caused the filter to have been pressurized. We also could not locate a filter for the coach it seems it is a little bit unusual. The guys at newell met me on Sunday morn so that we could get replacement filters and a new filter housing and check valve in case that was the issue. And get it fixed before we got blasted with 6 inches of snow.( yes Doug only 6 inches..) lol

So if anyone at the rally needs a hydraulic filter, filter housing , check valves, fuel filters , oil filters hydraulic fluid ,cooling fluid, oil, 110 air compressors, hydraulic pump, spare tires (365's are currently all that is in inventory )or zip ties. Let me know we have replacement parts available..

Seriously just wanted to give a special shout out to the guys at Newell for meeting me on a Sunday.


One last tid  bit. On the older coaches like mine they use a vickers filter housing. The current filter housing and check valves newell has in stock DO NOT fit the vickers in our coaches, you must get the whole assembly..

I would like to post a couple of pics to a tailpipe upgrade that I needed to do. When we came from Canada in late Oct we noticed after pulling a long grade we had pulled over to check the newell and our jeep toad. Upon checking tires on the newell ect we proceeded to check the Jeep. We could actually smell rubber as approaching the Jeep. The drivers side tires on the Jeep were so hot we could not touch them. Passenger tires were cool to touch. With that said I order a 6 inch elbow to our parker strip property. This is my finished product. The elbow once cut and fit into postion I took it to Havasu city to have a ceramic finish applied. Though I would share my upgrade so others can benefit.

Looking for Manufacture & Part Numbers for Taillight Relays!!
I am helping Nancy with her Tail/Brake/Turn Lights. We have identified a Relay that is lazy and then fails after use. So we then goes down to the local parts store and orders (or though so) a couple of new Relays, problem is they have not been able to deliver them.
We have an '82 and they have a '95 and both Coaches have the same Relays and here is what her's look like........
    and any help finding with these would helpful.

I hope my first post is not inappropriate!

Newell Guru’s has been recommended to me a number of times as a place to find quality answers from people who know about quality motor-coaches.  I have hesitated to make a post because my question is not about Newell.  My hope is you will find my post to be well meaning and well intended!

I have known people through the years who have owned Prevost’s, Newell’s and Blue Bird Wanderlodge.  I’ve been in their coaches and sat in on many conversations that were informative and at times shall we say somewhat animated!  

From those conversations and things I’ve learned from the forums.  A semi-monocoque chassis is the single most important issue to the allover quality. Including ride, interior quite, mechanical and long term strength.

My wife and me are retired and plan to travel and live in our coach a minimum of 6 months a year.  At this point we have no plans to sell our home but who knows what the future will bring.  We know couples who live in their coaches year around who believe its as close to heaven on earth as you can get.  We have family and friends all over the country and cannot think of a better way to visit them.  And to be in our own place while doing so would be great.

We are looking for a 2005 to 2010 coach and that is the reason why I’m unable to include Newell in my search.  My company financing the coach will not accept a coach over 10 years old and my budget is $200,000.00. Two coaches I know I cannot get because of years and dollars is Newell and Prevost.

Coaches I am looking at are those having the semi-monocoque chassis.  I understand them to be Monaco and Country Coach, (I understand not all Monaco and Country Coaches have semi-monocoque chassis and I’m looking into those models that do), Beaver and Blue Bird Wanderlodge.

My interest is in a 43 to 45 foot coach (prefer 45) and a bath and a half.

As I am interested in all of your comments, I am especially interested in “any reason you would not select a given coach, model or year”?

In anticipation of our coach selling we have started putting together our travel plans.  We're leaving next Wednesday and heading to the Newell GarageMahaul to visit Tom.  Then we have a house rented for March near Cedar City, Utah.  Then down to Ignacio, Colorado (south of Durango) for April 1-10, then we'll meander back to Louisiana.
In July we have a cabin rented for July near FairPlay, CO.  Then another cabin rented near Cimarron, CO for August.  Haven't decided on September yet. 
We'll have the Rzr with us and plan to do a bunch of riding.  And I just bought a fly fishing rig so hope to do some fishing.  But you may want to keep your distance for a while.
So if any gurus are in any of these areas we'd love to get together.


Someone please buy my coach  

    Hello all, my wife and I just purchased our first Newell coach, a 1995 Series 2000, Coach number 381. We bought it from a couple in Corvallis Oregon. My dad and I flew up there to look at it, buy it, and drive it home. We are excited to start traveling soon, with our 8 month old baby boy. My Dad just purchased a dual slide Newell and my brother-in-law [a member here] bought a dual slide last year. I'am a Diesel mechanic by education and trade, a crane operator, a truck driver with a Class A CDL, and the Fleet Maintenance Manager for my dad's company. I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing tips and advice with this community. I'm already noticing a few issues related to the basement A/C units, and a funny problem where my right turn signal wont work when my headlights are on. Anyway, its great to be a part of this group.
