We travel somewhere in the country each year with our 4 daughters.
We bought our Newell at an auction sale in 2006 not having a clue what it was, but what a treasure to have.
Almost every place we have traveled, there has been somebody that has stopped to talk about Newell's.
In the summer of 2013, we took a trip to the Ozarks and stopped in Miami, Oklahoma to tour the Newell factory and were very impressed.
This forum provides a lot of information and am looking to do some remodeling, as the inside of our Newell is all original.

I lost the second stage compressor in my rear unit. It wasn't locked, but it was pulling 14 amps and blowing the breaker. The windings were showing some continuity to ground also. The other side pulled about 7 amps on the bench.
Tom helped me find a replacement compressor, a LG QK164CBL from AC Parts Distibutors in Florida. It was 320 USD. I post this because this is a direct drop in for the Matushita that was the OEM. I had to do a little copper tubing fettling to get the diameters to match up. My high side was an unusual 5/16 tube.
Anyway, there is a neat tool that has stepped diameters on it that you can use to expand tubing to make a male female joint. It's common in the plumbing section of HD.
I wanted to post this picture, because I remember John Clark of Newell customer service fame laughing at my digital fish scale that I use for weighing in charges. By the way, according to the literature the system holds 32 oz of R22 per loop.
You have to look carefully to see the scale. Bad photography on my part.
I was happy the new compressor was pulling around 7 amps when I put power to it.
The real test will have to wait till warmer weather. I'll know then if I have to adjust the charge.
I just wanted to post my experience in the recent long trip that may prevent the customization of the front of your coach.
I was 2 ft from a new front cap.
I have always assumed that following trucks in a high traffic situation was a pretty safe way to drive. I always gave myself plenty of stopping distance, but did think that our coaches and OTR trucks would stop in pretty much the same distances based on our weight.
Well, I was wrong. Trucks, even loaded trucks, can stop a LOT quicker than we can. I almost nailed a truck on I 85 when the truck locked it up to avoid a pileup in front of him/her. I was a good six coach lengths behind and we were traveling about 50 mph. I was on the brakes hard enough that I activated the antilock, and I had the pedal pressed to metal. I stopped two feet from the bumper.
I did a little research, and it really does come down to common sense. The truck has 10 brakes, and we have six with tag. I don't count the toad brakes.
The experience changed my coach driving habits. I don't follow trucks in traffic if I can avoid it. I can't see the brake lights ahead of them, and I know they can stop quicker than I.
Ok not what everyone is thinking on this board. My college team , Nebraska just fired Bo Pelini. I figured your opinion on a new coach would be interesting.. Lol

I'm going to be storing my coach for the next few months. I can go start/run it once a month or so. But other than that it will see little use. It will be in a covered, fully enclosed, and heated storage unit that is large enough to put all slides out.
This might be a dumb question but..... Should I store it with the slides in or out or does it not matter? Are there any pros/cons?
Thanks!

Ok my 110 plug in my storage bay is not working, I have checked all the breakers in the rear panel and the ones in the storage bay attached to the inverter. I can't find a tripped breaker.. Any ideas?

As you guys know I replaced my 110 compressor, since I never use the 12 v I didn't know it was not working till I tried it when the 110 went out.. Anyone have a source for them or have replaced them?

Every time I turn on my heater in the galley/living room it blows a fuse in the aqua hot. All of the other zones/thermostat heat works. So we are without heat in the main part of coach.
I've checked all wired connections including thermostat and at Aqua hot. All seem fine.
Any one know what might be the cause?
Thanks for your help in advance.

For those with Primus Heat, here is a control unit listed. These are getting hard to find and this unit is priced accordingly.
For those who aren't familiar, Primus was essentially a propane powered version of Aqua Hot. It was available on some late 1980's and earl 1990's Newells and Blue Bird Wanderlodges.
