I have an appointment with Newell the Monday before our gathering in Ark. to check the gaps on my slides along a few other things such as air bags, etc. It seems that the gap at the bottom of both slides are much lower than at the top. They are almost touching the body. Mike at Newell said they would check the plastic inserts that they ride on for wear. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi you all,
We own Coach 197, a 1989 Coach. We have been living in the coach for about ten years, although we now spend summers in our home in Maine.
This is our second Newel, the first being a 1978 38.5 footer we purchased in 1995.
We have loved both our Newells. Perhaps 50% of our enjoyment has been in working with the Newell Corporation for service. They have done a great job for us, even in repairing obsolete systems in the coach. We try to get back to the factory annually.
Having done a lot of maintenance ourselves, we are anxious to share experiences and ideas with other owners.
Dick and Maura Quirk

I replaced the drag link ends and tie rod ends on the dana ifs 84 suspension on 512. I felt free play at dead center in the steering at dead center and I could visibly observe movement in the drag ling ends. This suspension was also used on some country coaches and Henderson sells the parts. Yes, I know, I probably could have gotten them cheaper. I am providing the old parts to Ron Skeen and he can find a different source.

Here is the problem. On both 390 and 512 I always had a built in speed control. The coach would get out of its comfort zone somewhere between 66 and 68 mph. It was tactile feedback to decrease pressure applied by right foot.

Well, with the new steering links, the coach is composed up to 80. I stopped there because my speed alert alarm system (Rhonda) was activating.

I still have a minute amount of center free play. I would say 1 to 2 degrees. I have disassembled the steering column and it is NOT the u joints. They are tight. However I think it is the splined connection in the lower column. My setup has an adjustable length column to get from the top u joint to the steering box. I am gong to figure out how to remove that free play. I am thinking to tap and thread the outer column and uses a couple of bolts to tighten it up.

Here is an ad I saw on another site & thought some one might be interested.

Cleaning out some of my spare stuff. I used the Silverleaf system to monitor engine information and diagnostics. I connected it to a cheap Dell Inspiron duo (laptop with a flip screen) and it worked great. I monitored complete set of engine data and diagnostics running down the road.

VMSpc Kit

VMSpc JIB (JS501)

6 ft USB cable

5 ft engine diagnostic harness and 6 pin connector
CD with software

Owner's Manual

Retails for around $400. For sale for $200.

More information on on the Silverleaf website:
http://silverleafelectronics.com/node/6?q=node/6

Could make you a deal on a Dell computer if interested.

Does anyone know of a good place in the above areas? I know we could stay at that park in Pacifica but would rather not. Also, as far as Pleasanton, we've did the fairgrounds about ten years ago and were not too pleased. This last time we were there we stayed at Del Valle state park, about 5 miles from Livermore and loved it, but no cell service. And since Gary is still working we need it. Any suggestions would be most appreciated! We've got kids in Oakland, San Francisco and Pleasanton. And a good friend in Napa. Susie

OK so while heading to a TT Park I noticed that the Jake Brake wasn't working-----No Sound when letting off of the throttle.
I have already checked the DC Voltage at the Forward Terminal Strip and Fuse Block as well as the After Terminal Strip----Purple Wire in our case. Checked with the Engine Running and the Switch Off--No Voltage, then the Switch On Voltage (nominal 12 Volts).
Having not had to look into this before I could use some direction on a 6V92 Jacobs Brake.
thanks in advance!
