Visiting the "Mother Ship" today...Hope I didn't forget my checkbook! Work on two slides, generator, some plug-in's that don't work and other stuff too numerous to mention. Hope we don't have to stay overnight, but are prepared if we have to!

Ok, I met with cat today and they pulled the service records from the previous owner of my 74. Not what I wanted to hear but what I expected. 1160 Cat Engine is worn, pistons and rings are shot, blow by is 480 CFM, parts cost more than a new engin, fuel pump parts are not available, etc. on a good note all the external parts of he engine were replaced in 06-06-2011. Including hoses, belts, alternator, water pump, etc.
I am burning about half a gallon of oil per 500 miles. I can handle this for now.
Do I repair what I have or do I re-power? Going to be about the same cost. Re-power is going to be easier and less of a headache.
Suggestions, what has been done before, who has re-powered and with what? Seen a couple cummins. Just looking for suggestions and experence?
We're going to have fun and run her for now until she can't go anymore. Not going to damage anything more unless the fuel pump timing gets off.
Thanks,
Roy...

I have found another Newell I'm interested in buying and am putting 701 up for sale. Its a 2004 quad slide, full raised roof ,murphy bed, steer tag, bath and a half . The coach also is a spiderwire coach and has a basement entertainment center that includes a grill fridge and tv on a Joey bed. It also has a custom buitl hitch that is capable of over 50k in towing.
The coach has the darker wood interior which is EXTREMELY rare in these years model.
All systems on the coach are in working order , the only exception is I have new ice maker on order. The coach has been serviced almost by Newell exclusively for its life.
Many other neat features are on this coach. I'm asking 325k Pm me for any additional info.

Imagine our surprise yesterday when we where driving through town and saw a Newell Classic at the tire shop we use. It was well after the noon closing time for Saturday. The shop owner Kieth Brown had remained open to fix a leaking valve stem on inside dual for them. They said the coach had been donated by a gentleman from South Carolina. Their son is riding a bicycle across America for a Children With Cancer Charity. I did get a pic of vin sticker but due to my poor photography skills it was blurred from glare. Very nice folks and I told them they would be welcome here at the forum. on a side note Michael, I have contact info if you would like to get in touch with them directly to get vin info etc.

I'm wondering if anybody has used the prodigy rf trailer brake controller?

I just had Newell put in a new mattress in my coach hoping it would be better than the old one. Unfortunately, it is way too firm for me. And I like firm mattresses! But this is beyond firm. Puts my arm asleep when I sleep on my side. The old mattress was the same way.
We've tried putting extra padding on top but that does not work well, sheets don't fit, slides around, drapes over sides, etc. plus bed is still not comfy.
Does any one feel the same way? What did you do to remedy the problem?
Does any one know where I could get a custom shaped (rounded corners) spring mattress?
Thanks gurus!

I just read in the Oct. Family Motor Coaching Magazine that Michelin has expanded their Advantage program to include BF Goodrich and Uniroyal. I am running BF Goodrich on my tag and will more than likely on my drive axial when I need them. I prefer Michelin on the steer. This program also includes light truck and Passenger car tires also. I understand that BF Goodrich and Uniroyal are owned by Michelin.
Has any one had one of their hinged door skin delaminate from the aluminum frame?
Thanks in advance for the info which is being used to evaluate a common Newell problem and its cause.
