I hear the annoying smoke alarm beep indicating that a new battery is needed - but do not know where the smoke alarm is located in our coach. Looked in the washer/dryer area - not there - anyone know where Newell places the smoke alarm??
PS: sorry if this post is a duplicate - first post did not post for some reason.
I've grown weary of the coolant leaks out of the sweated- in joints on the manifolds on my 1997 431-12 unit. Rudy led me to photos of a new Model 600 unit that uses heater hose to replace these manifolds. I'm taking pics but I need help posting them as I am using a Mac Book Pro and am a tad slow. I closed the two faucets that the manifolds thread into but both were leaking torrents when I starting taking everything apart. I will rebuild them also. I'm now an eco- terrorist with the slippery green mess I've made. These small leaks over the years have caused problems like causing the adhesive to turn loose below the bay door that holds the aluminum strip that runs from the steps to the rear fender flare and ruining the rubber bay door gaskets by soaking them in antifreeze. I've got three manifolds out so far and have no interest in soldering the joints again. They always find somewhere else to leak.
I won't be able to replace every soldered joint on the whole unit as some come thru the cover for the tank.
Rudy suggested moving the burner out of the way and I promise I won't fire it up while it's out!
Thanks,
I know that most of you are aware of the issues that one tank of bad diesel can cause but I thought you might like to see the visible evidence.
Back in 2008, when we were living fulltime in our coach, we left Austin on our way to Yuma, Arizona. We filled up at the Flying J in Anthony, TX. We drove on toward Yuma. After the 8 split near Casa Grande, I noticed that the coach seemed low on power. By the time we got to Wellton, it was really low on power and I thought the Fortuna Hills east of Yuma were going to be unmanageable. Got over the hills in 1st gear. Had the fuel filters changed on the engine and the oil and oil filter and fuel filter changed on the generator. I cut open the two engine fuel filters to see if that was the likely issue. The photos show what I found.
After our visit in Yuma, we drove to Newport Beach and I had a marine service company come out and filter all of my fuel and return it to the tanks. Of course I changed out the fuel filters again.
These filters had been in the coach less than 5 months and about 8,700 miles.
Today a tandem circuit breaker in our coach that operates the stove kept on shutting off. Not sure what else it runs if anything. Menards only carries 15 or 20 amp pairs. The guy there thought I may need 30 amp though since its a stove.
First off can these go bad? We have used the stove before with no issues. Second any suggestions as to amps? It does not say on the breaker what amp it is. Need to get this fixed though for this coming weekend. Thanks guys.
Hi All,
Any small parks with potential you may know and like that are "for sale" in Southern Colorado or New Mexico or any of the warmer climate States. Between 50 and 100 sites and not in "The Boonies". Appreciate any leads. PM me or [email protected].. Thanks..
My '93 doesn't have a fantastic fan in the front salon area. I'm wondering if Newell might have run the wire for one anyways. Can anybody tell if they might have? If so is there a common location where I might find it? Also if anybody has a 12V fan in your coach how far back from the windshield is it located?
Thx
Dean
I've been using the Aquahot diesel burner about a 1/2 hour each day to heat water and noticed a noise and vibration coming from the burner that sounds like maybe a bearing going bad.
No noise when just running it on electric.
Is this a replaceable part and how easy to replace it?
a little handscraped hickory
Anyone know what Newell charges currently for standard PM?
Oil,filters, grease, drain air tanks & labor. Just on the 60, not gen or trans.
what do you guys think of this one.
8v71 just rebuilt. was a over the road passenger bus.
i could gut the newell and put the stuff in here?
i took these pictures today.
