I had a couple of reels of strip LED lighting left over from other projects so I decided to install it in between the valance and the curtains in the salon area of the coach. I also installed a dimmer on it. Here are the pictures. I love how it came out....took a couple of hours. The 3rd picture (left to right) is with dimmer on full blast, and the 4th picture is about 40%.

on my coach there are a number of control panels made out of the black plastic engraved and then have switches or guages etc.
i have one over the driver, as you enter the coach, over the microwave, and in the bedroom.
what newell used to give that glow to the labels is a limosine/aircraft neon strip that they taped to the back of the panel in a daisy chain affair.
they use high AC voltage at very low amps. so there is a special inverter required for them and there is one for each location.
the only reason i fooled with them was that i heard a high pitched squealing and it was driving me nuts. i traced it down to the inverter for the panel over the microwave. steve bare and russ white had already been down this path so had the sources for it.
i ordered 2 inverters and thought i would be good. after i replaced that one and stopped that noise, then i heard another one. it was the one behind the panel on the left as you enter the coach with the master switch etc on it. so i replaced that one and then heard the noise in the bedroom. so i had to order more.
the one under the drivers left arm console isnt making noise.
i also ordered a spare length of strip and color plastic.

les was asking about these so i thought i would post.
i bought them at ryder fleet products. mine were all hazed over so i replaced them all.

Gang,
My bay door locks are looking a little old. The rubber that covers the mechanism is falling apart on all the locks. All but one are still working, but they are really corroded and ugly.
Does anyone have experience in swapping these out? I can see a Ford part number on one of the actuators.
The wiring appears to be just simple spade connectors, but the way that Newell holds the wires is suspect. The wires are wire tied to little square plastic things that (had) glue / adhesive. The glue has long since given up so the wire just hangs there with little plastic squares attached. Maybe some of the industrial double stick tape would hold the plastic thingys?
Thoughts?
Cheers,
bill

From time to time, I have felt like I was not getting continuous hot water from my Aquahot. I have replaced the cartridge in the shower and the tempering valve next to the Aquahot unit.
Normally, I start a shower with plenty of hot water, but the hot water eventually gets colder and sometimes I end up with a very luke warm shower.
I learned something today by reading the maintenance manual for the Aquahot. You can only expect continuous hot water while using the diesel burner.
I know that the Newell version of the Aquahot has two electric elements compared to the normal one element. I will try some experiments to compare the results of diesel heating vs electric vs diesel + electric.
Just food for thought. Feel free to comment and set me straight!

hi,
if it is cold weather, a couple of questions. 1st, is can the aquahot heat the coach sufficiently running just on the two electric elements if you have 50a service.
second is if not, how much fuel does the aquahot take in diesel mode to keep the coach heated.

hi,
yesterday darlene and i drove down to tucson and met Les & Cheryl and Phil & Judy.
they are great folks and we spent a cold afternoon and evening learning about each other and talking newells and lots of other things.
we had a wonderful dinner together and talked for hours.
thanks to the 4 of them so being to warm and gracious to darlene and i.
looking forward to seeing them again in mesa sometime.
tom and darlene

we are having record cold streak here in mesa. we actually covered some new plants and covered some plumbing. i woke up at 3:45am and got up to see how cold it was in the coach. it was 36 degrees inside and it was 26 degrees outside. i have left the electric bay heater on so it is a cozy 50 degrees in the bay.
supposed to be in the mid 20's for the next 4 nights. that is cold for here.
signed,
frosty in mesa

darlene and i are headed down to meet les & cheryl and phil & judy.
is there anyone else in the area?

Since getting our '98, we have had a water pressure issue in the kitchen and shower. Bathroom sink, toilet and outside bib are fine.
So far, we've done the following
- Soaked shower head and faucet head in vinegar (marginal improvement)
- Changed water pressure regulator in plumbing bay (nada)
- Replace cartridge in kitchen faucet handle (some improvement )
- Removed old giant water filter in plumbing bay (couldn't get parts anyway, but no improvement)
- Replaced filter cartridge in small filter in plumbing bay (slight improvement )
- Added two large external filters ( no change)
Grohe fixture in kitchen, unknown in shower.
Driving me crazy!
