I am working on modifying the platform which I now use to haul the Goldwing or ATV. I think it will work for the RZR and will let you know if I get it worked out. I learn with my towing incident that the rack will hold the front of my pick up so I don't think the RZR will be tow heavy. I will have to reinforce the Alum where the wheels set and extend away from the coach. The measurement now are 48" and I am going to 56" with 4" more inches away from the back of the coach.

I am thinking about replacing the AquaHot exhaust pipe that runs under the coach. I am pretty sure I have a little leak right near where the insulated run connected to the pipe portion near where the AquaHot exhaust comes through the body floor.

If anyone has done this job, please give me your advice and experience. I am wondering about the material in the insulation right now. Do you know if it is asbestos free? I will send Newell a query on that.

I am reasonably certain the union placed near the AquaHot transition through the floor will never be able to be turned open just due to the corrosion and rust evident from years of service. A reciprocating saw should handle that and hopefully I will be able to turn the threads loose to put in new pipe. One of those jobs that once you make the first cut you are kind of committed.

in looking at the pictures that todd has of his engine compartment with the engine removed, i could see that the insulation/thermal barrier was in tatters.

i talked to todd on the phone last nite about his adventures in getting his 8v92 rebuilt and i asked him about if he was going to replace the insulation while it was easy to get at. he said they were going to do that.

but....he also said that some of it had fallen down onto the top of the engine. it made me think that all of us need to make sure nothing is in direct contact with the turbo or other hot areas of our main engines. i was reading on the bluebird site this past week about how one of them had a fire while driving and it was because someone had improperly added insulation around the genny/aquahot exhaust going up through the roof and it fell against the exhaust pipe and caught fire. thankfully a friend was following them and noticed it and they were able to get it out before it burned the coach up.

in some coaches, the thermal barrier is a thermal canvas pad like cover that is sewn and mounted up there. in some it is like that for a sound barrier as well like was in my genny for the 1990 i have and my 02 has the same.

the engine compartments in the earlier coaches were the 1" thick sound/thermal/insulation pieces made of various layers of dense foam, foil, lead type material and such that has adhesive on the back. that deteriorates over the years and starts just falling apart.

it is available from newell parts, dupree products and a few other places and is quite expensive. 65 bucks for a 24"x54" sheet. plus shipping and it is heavy.

on my 90 i redid the entire engine compartment with a radiant barrier and glued multiple layers of it together myself and screwed it up with fender washers and wood screws. i talked to the manufacturer to make sure it would withstand the heat and it does. but it was a lot of work to do it this way but alot cheaper. tradeoff is time.

so, just a reminder to check it.

Good morning Gurus. I have an ongoing situation with my bedroom baseboard heaters.
As reported earlier, when I turned up the thermostat there was a buzz and the breaker popped. I can't identify where the buzz is actually coming from. I changed the thermostat and the same thing occurred. Following Russ's suggestion I took the baseboard heaters off line one at a time and the same thing occurred.
Have any of you followed that circuit or run into a junction box between the thermostat and heaters (where they must spit off to each heater). Any help greatly appreciated. The nights are starting to get cool up here in the Cariboo area of B.C.

howdy, i know a few of you have the air door and the keyless entry with it.

mine is an essex electronics 1602 system. it does not have any wireless keyfobs with it and i have a call into essex to see if it is possible to add them in.

those of you that have a similar system, do yours have remote key fobs with it?

Newell 2001 # 582

These guys are on two of my slide out cabinets. I have tried to adjust them to no avail thus far so I think I may need to get them replaced. Would anyone have suggestions where to look for these or some sort of replacement suggestions? when you pull on the handle they are supposed to retract down and unlock...but they pretty much stay unlocked now and swing widely out when turning corners...it's very exciting.

Anyone have a clue where to find replacements for these old rusted dudes? I have searched high and low and been to several truck places and people seem stumped by these. Most just have ones that bolts and lugs go thru not these top hats that fasten with 4 allen screws.

one of my long time things has been pinballs though i have not done much for a long time with them.

i have too many of them.

i finally got a new circuit board installed in my Gilligans Island (1990 same year as my 90 newell).

somehow a message got put on the screen that flashes up once in a while...

have a look.

by the way, the answer to the question is ME.
