No info really. Wonder if it is the one for sale last year for 12,500

Hello.
Love to read all of the posts here about these awesome machines.
Looking for a 96" wide coach. Currently have a 2001 Newmar Dutch star 38' long 102" wide that I am unable to park at my home because the space I have available is only 96" without encroaching into the sidewalk setback.
Have looked at newer Newell's and really liked what I saw.
Just took a trip to Midland TX to look at a 2001 MCI F3500 coach that the seller swore was 96" unfortunately he was only qualified to operate the "dumb" end of the tape measure.
Realize that there are probably very few 96" wide coaches built after 1985 or so. I have been trying to research when the last ones were produced. 1989 perhaps?
Apreciate any advice or information anyone here can help me with.
Thanks
Bill

Saw two late model Newells southbound on I 75 just a few miles north of Ocala. One was pulling a dark colored Cherokee, and looked a lot like Richard and Marla. @"rwatts7777" The other was pulling a black stacker with three axles.

Hello All,
Newbie here, we are in the market for a Newell and just got back from the first Newell investigation trip.
Looked over a 92 year model coach. Before leaving home, ran the VIN (provided by the seller) through Auto Check...came up with a record only going back to 2015. Still went anyway to check out the coach....here in lies the issue. The VIN provide by the seller came from the Title. Checked the VIN data plate up front by the gear selector.....it only had 16 digits and had the fourth number entered at the DMV Title as a "1" actually was a "4". So now the Data plate up front does not match the title and is only 16 digits the title has 17 digits.
Now went to the data plate in the back on the engine bulkhead. That data plate has 17 digits the same forth number is a "4" just like the front.....the ninth position is where a letter "X" was added to make it 17 digits.
Two questions, have any of you seen the front and rear data plate not match one another...i.e. 16 vs 17 digits? Which number would be the real VIN given the 1992 vintage?
The title being wrong is totally understandable from a clerical stand point and should be easy to correct. The other problem creates a plethora of issues from insurance to legality of ownership....no telling what all else.
We left off with the owner to sort out the title issues before we commit to buying it and hope things can be worked out shortly.
Thanks
Steve

i am an engineer and my neighbor is a canadian farmer snowbird that comes down in the wintertime
he is also a mechanic.
i have a case 480 tractor. big boy tractor. it has been out of commission for months sitting at a friends house who borrowed it. i have been too busy with other things to work on it. the last year i have had it borrowed out to several folks.
so i picked up glen this morning and we went to look at it.
symptoms were that it would start, go into gear, but the shuttle would not move it more than a short distance then stop moving.
my friend who had borrowed it researched it and i did my internet search on all the things that could be wrong with it. my friend even talked to a shop who said it for sure would cost 5k to fix.
glen says start it up. i did and sure enough it would hardly move. he says.....did you check the shuttle fluid. i said yes and i filled it. he checked it and it was foamy. he says it is low. i say i filled it to the line. he says did you do it when it was running? i said i refuse to answer that on the grounds it makes me look dumb.
we put a gallon of fluid in it and off i went driving it around my friends place. i also noticed that for the first time in a long time it steering straight without moving the steering wheel. before as i drove i had to constantly turn the steering wheel to the right to keep it going straight. now it doesnt do that.
he says, the front hydraulic ram for the steering is leaking and the shuttle and steering share the same fluid.
to myself i think that all the internet research i did (to be fair to me it is a 30 year old tractor) didnt say any of this and i had almost learned how to remove the bottom of the tractor....ha
glen says, there is studying and there is doing. (or something like that) engineers study and farmers do.
i am glad i have glen around in the winter. and now my tractor works again. on the list is replacing some seals on rams and a new hydraulic hose. and maybe make the brakes work again. ha

Hmmmmm. When you hear hoofbeats think horses. Or did the last thing you touched have any link to the problem you are having ? Or how about Occam’s razor, what is the simplest answer?
This is entertainment at my expense, and also intended to dissuade any notions that I am a a Newell shaman.
Most of you are familiar with my extreme OCD when it comes to the handling of the coach. Some are familiar with the extremes I have gone to in order to fine tune the steering.
On our way back from the outwest trip I started to feel a very disconcerting sensation in the steering wheel. I first felt it in a fast sweeper of a curve, then as I was attuned to it, I could feel it in the straightways. It was subtle, but it felt like the steering was sticking and releasing. In a gentle flat road input, I could feel the stiction.
My first thing was to grease the front end. Really no fun in a pee flavored rest stop parking lot.
That didnt help. But we uad to hurry home and I pressed on with my little squirrel brain in overdrive imagining what were the potential causes. Let’s see. Hydraulic pump starting to fail or worn out bushings in the upper and lower swing arms or loose wheel bearings or perhaps something amiss in life the rebuilt steering gear box. But the fall has been challenging and i didnt have a chance to work on it.
Today we are driving to SAVANNAH to see the older son. As I drive I am planning the methodical approach to finding the problem. Put the front on jack stands and unload the front wheels then check for the binding. Then slowly load the wheels while checking for the binding. Make a hydraulic fitting gizmo with a pressure gauge to check the hyd pump and so on and so forth. I was even thinking of how to handle the weight of the front end components if I had to disassemble it. You can do a lot of thinking while driving with a sensation that manifests every five seconds.
Then I remembered that I had lowered the telescoping part of the wheel sometime during the latter part of our summer trip. Nah it could not be that. No way. I raised the wheel. Fixed!!!!!! Seems my steering wheel at the bottom of the telescope has a “notch” in the movement. I really am not going to miss a couple of weeks under the coach.
Y’all have a good day now.
I

I somehow locked myself out of the basement compartments.
Yesterday I crawled inside the electrical compartment to check on an inverter.
I think I must have bumped a switch on the spider panel.
Any idea how I get the doors open?
I must not be the first idiot who has done this. LOL!,

Hello,
I’ve never had a coach with a tag so I would appreciate some guidance on weighing it.
No individual scales available in my area so I would use a CatScale.
I’m unsure how to position it on the scale and what configuration the tag should be in.
I’ve attached a CatScale weight I took after topping off the fuel tank and probably 1/2 tank water & 1/2 tank holding. Driver only...
Steer 16520
Drive 32580
Trailer 3000
I’m sure I had tag switch in the center position.
Obviously I’m trying to get a full understanding of what tire pressures I should use.
Using the Michelin charts, based on this info, I’m coming up with:
Fronts - 100 psi for the 365s 16520/8260 (100 psi single 8780)
Rears - 125 psi for each of the 315s (125 psi single 8690 or dual 15820) or (130 psi dual 16540)
If I’m reading this correctly I need to run the rears at 130...???
Slightly confused....
Thanks, JK
