Last winter I had an issue where I lost power to my HWH leveling.  I eventually figured out what at the time I thought was a bad relay as once I traced it down and replaced the relay all was working "well" again.  During this fix I realized that when said relay is bad I not only don't have power to HWH I don't have a horn or a backup camera and a few other things.  It was actually super handy as when the camera was out you knew you had a problem.  So on our last trip I noticed that over a few REALLY bad potholes I would temporarily lose connection and then it would come back.  It also seemed like my backup cam picture was not as crisp and had a few lines from time to time.  So the other day after finally getting my well pump switch problem solved I decided to take a deeper dive and what I found was a bit disturbing.

I quickly found out that touching said relay or worse yet touching the circled orange wire would cause me to lose connection AND the orange wire got so hot you could not hold it. Pulled the relay and from the picture you can see how discolored the male spade was from heat.  Then learned from chatting with Richard and Bill that resistance equals heat and I most likely had a bad connection inside of that pesky little block...well pesky at that time.  First challenge was I had no clue how to get the female side of the connection out of the block.  After needing Bill to google how to remove the females from the block for me I found out that block is called some variation of a 5 pin relay socket and more specifically mine is made by Hella. Actually part of the way through removal wire came all the way out of the connector so it must have been hanging on by a thread.  Plastic around wire had turned black from heat as well.

Pulled the blocks apart to get easier access to the one that needed attention and thanks to the YouTube video they quickly came out but now the question was where on earth do you find a female non-insulated terminal with the tab to retain it inside the block?  I can tell you it's not Home Depot, O'Reilly or Autozone.  In the end it was Amazon for the win as they had what I thought I needed.  Was so much easier to find once I knew I was looking for that Hella relay socket as well since the old one had melted quite a bit and I figured who knew what melted inside as well.

Was also SUPER thankful that a splurged a few weeks ago for a proper set of crimpers with multiple dies from Wirefy thanks to a member here.  A newbie like me had no actual clue that you needed a different crimper for different connectors.  The non-insulated were a bit of a chore even with the nice crimpers due to limited space down there and the super short wires.

Learned a lot and once back together it's functioning as intended with no wires so hot you can't hold them.  Put a smattering of pictures and links below for what I needed in case someone else has this problem in the future so you can fix it in about 10 minutes.  I can't divulge the amount of time I invested.   Wink

431XE/12 the standard Aquahot for many years.

New everything in burner. Was working fine. Just removed burner Everything is got rust on it and the aluminum housing is showing white corrosion. Of course, AH will not stay lit.

What would cause all of this rust and corrosion and how to stop it??

Of course I have an extended trip coming up in early November.

I HATE Murphy!

Hello all,
While I was under the coach working on Air Force One install this morning, I decided it would be a good time to drain any water that might have accumulated in my air tanks. The rear tank has the pin that you push to manually drain the tank. When I pushed the pin (maybe to hard), it recessed all the way up so that just the tip is barely visible and did not reset. I tried to show it in the picture but it’s hard to see.
Not sure if this matters but since I was working on the air system, I had already evacuated all of the air from the coach.
Will the pin reset when I air the coach back up or am I going to do something else to fix this?

Thanks,

Tony

I knew it was not working but wanted to replace it with a victron bluetooth programable unit and use the 12 gauge wire going to the rear that connects to the engine batteries. I found the problem using my cheap wire chaser, they never hooked it up! So if anyone needs a new old echo charger it will be at the no rally rally on the 30th.

Made a visit to Rudys yesterday to have the Aquahot serviced and had a great time with him and his wife.  If you have not had the chance to visit with Rudy then give him a call or better yet go check out his new ‘campground’ on a grass farm South of Houston.  Great people and fun to visit with - oh yeah, and we cured what ailed our AquaHot system!

As I am going thru and creating my maintenance log for coach 385 I was checking the date codes on the tires.  I looked at the air valves for the tag tires and was a little perplexed.  Now that does not take much, but how am I easily supposed to check the pressure in the outside tire, and why do they run the Shrader valve back this way.  The cap does have a spring loaded center section, I am just not sure why.  New to pushers and Tag axles.  Also would like to get a TPS monitor unit.  So here are my questions:

What is needed to check pressure?  Is it just a double headed pressure gauge?  Of coarse I have a nice single headed one.
Do I read thru the spring loaded cap or remove the cap as normal.  Not sure if I can get my sausage fingers in the little hole that easily.
What TPS system will work with this set up as is, or does something need to be changed?
What is a air multiplier when filling tires up, to get over 110 PSI if needed?  Is there an alternative method.

I'm not positive of the source, but I'm getting leaking over the top area of my hydraulic tank.  So, I'm starting with the Cap.  I can't find the vendor/part info.

This is the tank:

And here is a closeup of the cap:

Hopefully, someone has some info on it for a 2015 class coach.

I've tied paper towels around the site-glass and get a bit of oil out the vent hole...wouldn't think this is normal and hasn't been a problem before.

When diagnosing my Yanmar generator issue, I had the need to check the compression on the engine. So I built a compression tester using an old injector.

Here are pics.

If you ever need to borrow it, let me know.

I’m on the hunt for a good quality LED light bar to install in the space in the door to the generator compartment which is 36” wide on my coach. This is a perfect place for a single row LED light bar about 30” wide.  I want it to have great light output but not blind others coming towards me.  I know there are lights with diffusers built in that help in this matter. I have seen others using 2 separate LED lights for this but I would like a single bar rather than 2 lights. I would like the light color to be adustable or at least change from white to amber. Combination of spot and flood beam…
Any suggestions would be great!

I found these one on Amazon:

Here is an amber light: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B96GBQRL/ref...RydWU&th=1

Anyone know where I can quickly source tie rods for a 1999 -478? The shop says I need them (no boots and are loose) before wasting money aligning… this trip is getting expensive.
