I have rented two 40ft. RV's and driven each one approx. on 1500 miles trips. Both trips from Kentucky to Oshkosh dry camping. We absolutely love this mode of travel. Looking to get into a Newell or similar Prevost conversion. While I dent know much I've have learned I don't want a newer production coach over a 2008-2012 model Prevost. Learning a a lot useful information from this site. Thanks!

Hello all.  We have had nothing but issues with our new 2023 45' DP (I'll not yet mention the manufacture) and are considering dumping it and purchasing a used coach with a better reliability record.  We spent over $600K for our "Top of the Line" unit from the unmentioned manufacture this April.  From what I see available online we can afford (cash buyers) something up to about a 2011 in a Newell.
My questions is can we expect these coached to be fairly reliable without many issues or can I expect the same issue as with the high volume manufactured coaches?  From what I've seen it seems these coach are of high quality with minimal failures.  But then I've never owned one or know someone who does own one.

We just retired and were to start our full time adventure  but the coach has been in and out for repairs for over 50 days now.  It's now back at the manufacture getting a full service but I don't trust it to live in at this point.

Your feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks.

South of Birmingham and got a nail in the passenger side tag tire sidewall - Love’s said they won’t touch it and I don’t blame them.  They have 1 Yokohama 11R 24.5 tire in stock and are trying to find another one.  There is going to be a small difference in tire height due to used tread between the drive dual tires and the tag tires.  Will this height difference be enough to worry about on the rest of our trip to TX.  Our tires are about 8 years old and we just replaced the front 365s about a month or so ago.  It’s time to replace the rear tires anyway but were going to wait until after our trip… oh, well…  Once we are near Houston we will order 4 more Yokohamas to match.  I miss having the extra tire on top of the roof when we had the Wanderlodge… lol

Hi all,

Looking to purchase another coach.  it's a 2011 with over 200k miles.  Have not seem many Newell's with that high mileage.,  Some Entertainer Prevost coaches yes but not yet a Newell.
How far will these coaches go without major grief.  Engine may be a million mile engine but what about the chassis?
My other concern is the transmission.  I've only owned Allison 6-speed.  what is the value in the 10 or 12 speed ZF etc?   any benefit or just what was available at the build time
Lastly the C15!  I've owned C12's before and fairly reliable but fuel mileage wasn't the greates.  I've always like the Detroit's but if not mistaken the 2005 was the last year for those.  Cummins would be ok but probably too new (expensive) on a working mans budget.

All comments appreciated
Marino

Hello all, Apologies in advance for the “War and Peace” write up.
So, it took a little longer than expected to get to this point, but I am now ready to do the coach-side installation of the Air Force system.

The instructions are probably fine if you have a Freightliner, Spartan, Tiffin, Roadmaster or DynaMax chassis but I am having some issues translating any of those into my setup. And…. to be totally transparent, I am pretty intimidated when faced with having to splice into the air lines. I really don’t want to screw this up.

I have looked through all the AF1 threads on this site and I have watched just about every You Tube video online. Still not sure how to proceed. I was really hoping to end up with an install like Chester Stones (not having to crawl under the coach) but I don’t have the same set up. As the saying goes, no two Newells are the same.  Also, FYI, my coach is a 38’, non-tag, so even more different than most.

The attached picture shows the setup under my coach. Actually, it’s two pictures that I tried to stitch together to give you a ground-up view of both the rear and forward-facing valves and all of the air lines at the same time. Also added labels.

I need to tie into two lines. For the coach air supply line, the instructions state that the line goes from the service relay valve to the braking air tank. It also says that it is a 5/8” OD line (could be ½” in some applications). As you can see in the picture, I do not have any 5/8” lines but I do have one ½”.

For the metered air connection, it says to locate the spring brake/quick-release valve and that the metered-air port is directly in the center of the top of the valve. In the picture (on the front valve side), there is an inset picture that shows a closeup of a 3/8” line (on top of the ½” line) that goes into the top of that valve.

How do I know which one is the spring brake valve and which one is the service relay valve? Each valve has an air hose running from the spring brake chamber and service brake chamber and that confuses me.

Long winded….I know. My previous set up was an M&G system that Richard helped me out a ton with. For this application I tapped into the spring brake chamber with a tee. As a point of reference, I placed a blue circle on the hose coming from the spring brake chamber that was tapped into.

Would appreciate any and all feedback.
Thanks,

So I was servicing my Kohler generator with the Yanmar 4TN84TE-RKRV and I noticed my intake hose from the turbo to the intake manifold had a split in it. So I started trying to find the part online with not much luck. Could hardly even find the part diagram for this engine. So I had been contacted by a generator company here in Florida called DuraWatt generators near Ocala florida, and he said if I ever needed anything to give him a call. So I called and asked if he had this part for my Yanmar, he said he did not carry that part but suggested I call M&L Engine In Louisiana. I was going to call Martin as suggested by many on here, but the fella at Durwatt said that they are a reseller like him, not a distributor, M&L is a distributor for Yanmar. So I called them, gave them the engine number and he looked the part up and said he had some in Atlanta and could have it to me in a couple days. So I gave him my card info and he ordered it. They have been communicating with me via email to let me know that they have shipped the part and it’s on its way. So far so good. As long as it’s the correct part these guys are going to be top notch in my book.
