I’m doing PM on the generator. I noticed the wiring harness had slipped over and was touching the exhaust pipe. The harness was held in place with zip ties. They had gotten brittle and broken. A few minutes tidying everything up may have saved me from a generator fire.
Hello. Wife and I dove head first info the RV world a little over a year ago. We spent prior years in the performance boating and cruiser world so I am no stranger to the forums and fixing my own issues. We put almost 12k miles on our super C and traveled all over the country. I am a racer and found it very useful at the track. We used it even more to vacation and spent several weekends a month the entire winter in FL. Hence our desire to move into a Newell. I’m considering a 2008. Our current coach (tentatively sold) was a 2015. We are looking forward to learning more and hopefully pulling the trigger. Cheers! Chad and Laura
With the coach leveled, engine and Valid off I have a noticeable air leak. After re-leveling auto, manual, engine on, engine off still leaks.
I took of the ride height rod, pushed it up 1/2" and leak stopped.
Is this a bad valve or wrong ride height?
A little more info;
Valid air leveling system
no air leak when in travel mode
I am on slight grade (2-3 %) front higher so the back is higher once leveled.
I leveled then lowered the coach.
Front is down a lot, back is a little.
Has anybody done maintenance on the Newell installed generator fire extinguisher? Should it be replaced or serviced?
We recently purchased 2002 quad slide - #623. Will be our sometime home during season in MCCC, Indio, CA.

Went to see coach and compressor was running what seemed to be non-stop. Took off line at exhaust port and while there is some air I can easily close it off with barely any pressure from my finger. Assuming compressor is shot?
Hi my Newell guru friends
I need some advice please
I parked my coach after picking it up 3 weeks ago
I had started it since parking 3 times and idled for while to build up air every time since I opened slides and closed them ( to see do I still have a problem with the slide that did not want to open on the first night on our way from TX) - Praise the Lord after walking thru it with a Newell Slide Tech it worked great - no problem opening and closing again.
When I started the coach the dash indicator showed the pressure was somewhere around between 80 - 90 ( assume PSI)
After idling 5 min or so it always goes up to 120
This past weekend I reversed it out of the garage to wash and had the engine off and the generator running for 8 hours while washing ( was long big wash?).
But to get to why I am writing - after the wash I started the coach up again aired up and parked back in garage
So this past week I have been polishing the wheels one a day since Monday - another serious long job ??
I worked my way around to coach the last 4 days and today back at the the passenger back drive wheel
Sitting down I suddenly realize the coach has squatted down in the back ( was so shocked that I did not fully take note if the coached only sagged in the back but I seem to recall the coach looked level)
The back of the underside looked like it was few inches off from touching and was down to the point that the inside arch ( foam like material ) was touching the top of the tire.
I immediately started the coach and raised it up to ride height.
I had the coach idle for 20 min and switched it off
I then took my Amprobe ULD 400 Ultrasonic leak detector ( thanks to Steve Vance you tube video) and used the parabola piece and held it all over under the coach, but could not detect any hissing sound or leak sound ( trust I used the tool correctly)
I also took it to the driver side basement section in front of the front wheel and listened to all tubes and pipes and things that look like it might channel air through - no leaks or sounds from the instrument
I also opened the material around the coach air door mechanism to listen if there is a leak ( when I picked up the coach the seller / dealer said he order some part since he is under the impression there is a leak but it had not arrived and we needed to get going.
I detected no leak sound with the very directional pipe fitting to the Amprobe
So if you guys can maybe suggest some solutions or things I should check I would appreciate it very much.
At least I was warned their migjt be a learning curve ???

Hi Tom & Admin
Several times I encountered issues with document uploading (to the Document section).
I worked around that by posting large-size files to dropbox instead.
Since you had mentioned that you have increased the size limit on uploads and we still encounter the same issue. This is a problem you might want to look into further.
See below, both unzipped PDF and zipped files failed to upload, the file sizes and error messages are shown in the picture.
As I see some gurus here included the maker/model of the engines. I thought it might useful to contribute more manuals that I can dig up (I responded to some of you who PMd me for certain manuals). So I start to post more here as I can see. Many of us probably never get our hands dirty on engines, because it's so technical and labor-intensive, however, it's always good to empower yourself with knowledge, especially on the maintenance and tune-up side. So I hope this would be beneficial.
@Tf175, who has Detroit 92 series 8V:
another file (Service Manual, over 2000 pages, about 20mb) failed to upload. It complains about file size being too large. So I have provided a dropbox shared link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bs1u7ecmwq5t97...l.pdf?dl=0
update: now after Tom made some modifications, I was able to upload the service manual which is 21Mb,
