Hi all,
My stair cover will not extend when activated, but it does release so I can manually pull it out.
No problem retracting the step cover. Hit the switch and it closes right up.
Had anyone experienced this? Any suggestions on what I can do to fix it?
Thanks
Changed the oil today in the 8V92, something I have done several times, and something I have had done in shops before . When I removed the plug, I was surprised at how easy the plug came out. Never been a " gorilla tight " plug, but I don't remember it being so easy. It is a plug, not a bolt, so there is no sholder to make positive contact with the pan. I have experienced no drips or leaks, so I don't know if I am just being overly cautious. Before putting the plug back in, I examined the threads, and they look fine , both the pan and the plug. I would estimate that I am able to get about 10 ft lbs on the plug. Any more than that it continues to move. I cheaped out years ago and my Harbor Freight torque wrenches, both inch lbs and ft lbs are worthless at low values. I have not replaced the oil in the engine yet, being on the fence regarding this plug, which has served me well for 40 thousand miles and 8 oil changes. Any thoughts?
I can't believe after 50 years of working on cars, I am having an issue with such a simple thing......
I'm currently using a Progressive portable SP that plugs into power pole.
I am considering hard wiring one into my Newell downstream from the power TX switch giving it the ability to protect both pole and generator power. Is this a common practice?
Lots of discussion on merging of the house and engine batteries on other threads. I just changed my merge relay for a couple of reasons, it was old, hot and it had some internal resistance across the contacts producing a voltage drop. I think Newell recommends changing this relay every year. So I cut mine open to show why. It is a simple coil magnet plunger with contacts. The contacts were pitted and burned a little, the contact disc was the same. You never know when the next closing will either weld together the contacts, or the coil fail to pull down the plunger from heat damage. The part for mine was a Cole Hersee 24106 found easily on Amazon. It is very easy to change. But I recommend disconnecting shore power and batteries isolated first. A short to ground while energized will be same as a welder.
Does anyone know what this thingy is?? I need to hard mount my Garmin and this seems like a great spot to do it. I'm thinking its some kind of speaker but not sure to what? Back up camera?
TIA
I believe I have the Prevost style chrome top hat covers on the drive/tag axles. We lost one on our last trip - I had loosened it to check the oil and must have not gotten it tightened back up (I hate those little hex bolts!). Anyone have a good source for them or a better replacement that does not require the lug nut to be removed to install?
We were headed north in 419 and saw what looked like a mid to late nineties headed south. Looked like metallic gold with a blue ribbon like swoosh. Maybe a Jeep toad. That’s all the detail I could manage at I85 speeds outside Atlanta.
Thanks to everyone who helped out from sourcing the proper bags, to wrenches needed, to tips and tricks to make the process flow smoothly. All in all was a pretty painless process when you factor all of that help.
Only thing that didn't go as planned was the nice little tire dolly I ordered made it to St. Louis and instead of getting on the delivery truck it made a trip to California instead, so I had to wrangle a few tires, but they were not too bad. One thing I did want to clarify from earlier posts is that with the new steer axle bags that have a smaller inlet the correct adapter was in fact:
3/4 Male JIC to 1/4 male NPT Straight. One Hydraulics had them for around $25.
We recently made the decision to sell our California home and travel for a year or two.. We had been looking at the Newmar Essex coach, but that was before we discovered Newell. We stumbled upon a YouTube video of the Newell factory and their build process. What an amazing coach. Now the search criteria had been changed and the budget has been increased a bit. We are even more excited than we were before to be Newell owners. Thanks for adding us to the community.
