I am overdue for routine service. My plans to be in Sioux Falls S.D. this year to visit Todd Flickema and Larry of Interstate Diesel ,the mechanic and birth mother of this Newell will have to wait  until spring.  There is just too much to see and do as a fulltimer

Does anyone have experience with Choo Choo Express in Rossville Georgia? They come up on Google as a good shop for 2 cycle Detroit Diesels.

1988 Newell #179 User Manual

I have written a New Hints/Tips/Troubleshooting manual for the prospective  new owner of my 1988 Newell #149,
on  9/21/2017.

May contain errors and I welcome updates and corrections.  This is written from the view of
a newell user that has learned stuff (right or wrong) the hard way.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others.

I was crossing Arkansas the other day and in fairly heavy traffic a "road gator" suddenly appeared in front of the coach.  There was not much I could do because of the traffic and ended up running over it.  I did not think I took any damage, but now I am missing my rear mudflap.

The mud flap is 10 x 24 inches.  Has anyone replaced their mudflaps?  Mine are looking a little long in the tooth and I would like to replace all of them.  I have four...behind steer tires and behind tags.

A few have popped up online, but I would rather go a proven source.

Sorry, I know I saw a source for MAC air valves in a thread, but can not find it again. Any sources would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone have any experience with Trico air wipers? My 1984 has become very sluggish on the drivers side. 1 pass of the wiper  and it is tired out. It does respond to the park command perfectly. I have the Trico motor out on the work bench. Before I go any further, it appears this motor has never been serviced. It has sawdust on it from the dash board construction. Would I do any harm putting a little mineral oil in the run and park intake ports? I realize the problem may not be in the motor, but the control valve in the dash, but it must need some lubricant for the o rings after 34 years?

I saw this classic Newell in Chicago on I80 when we were coming home from Vail ,CO yesterday!!

I changed my height control valve last month and took it out for the first time this weekend.. when I went to travel it would not raise to ride height. It will raise manually but does not seem to go max up. Once I manually raised it to a ride height it would stay while driving. Could my valve just need adjusting?

I recently replaced one of the right front air bags on my classic. Now in travel mode that corner sits a little low, about an inch. I have only been able to come up with 2 possible reasons. 1) Different air pressure side to side that is unrelated to the bag replacement. My air valves do leak and could be causing a pressure difference left to right 2) New air bag does not produce as much height for given pressure. I would check the pressures but currently do not have the fittings to tie in a gauge.

edit.. The front uses one HCV to supply both sides and was also recently replaced
