I have 8 sets of these in our coach. Last year Cindy replaced the cord on 1 set with Darlene and Elaines help. Well the cord on the same one broke again. Cindy and Darlene repaired it again. But while doing so we figured out why the cords are breaking. On the bottom rail there is an end cap with a brass bushing that the cord slides through as you raise or lower the shade. The brass piece is worn and has a groove that the cord is now passing through causing it to abrade and break. I plan to call Vista tomorrow and see if these end caps are available.
Since they fixed that one another one broke and the end caps are worn just like the other one.
So if you have problems check the end caps.

Here's my blog, lots missing. I will try to backtrack and add our time in Key West, Sarasota, Cape Canaveral, Savannah, Smokey Mountains, and Eureka Springs. Onwards and upwards to the west coast, Michigan, and the Canadian maritimes. Susie

I stumbled on this 93 being parted out in Saskatchewan

This doesn't look good to me. There are four lights above the drivers seat that light up when you plug in the coach or turn on the generator. The lower left light which is number 1 on the 120v started blinking about 2 weeks ago just once or twice a minute, every so often. Not regularly. now it's getting worse and longer intervals of blinking. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? There is no routine and sometimes it doesn't do it for a day or two, but tonight it is getting worse. I also was at a campground 2 nights ago and plugged in and it flipped the breaker twice. Don't know if it was me or the site. I have noticed that when I put a load on the coach electrical system by turning on the dryer and heat it almost always blinks then, so it seems like something to do with the amount of power I'm pulling.
The boot from the turbo that connects to the pipe for the charge air cooler just blew.. FYI.. You have no power when that happens.. Lol and are on the side of the road.

Any suggestions for Durango, CO?
We're thinking of heading there for a week once we escape the vortex in Wittmann.

Gang,
My coach has four gauges above the driver. Two for the AC volts (leg 1 and leg 2) and two for current draw on each AC leg.
One of my ammeters has stopped reading anything. Newell says that these meters are no longer available.
So...I have a couple of questions:
1) How are these ammeters wired? Has anyone gone through the wiring? I assume that there is some sort of transformer near the breaker panel, but I have not found it.
2) Do these meters go bad? If so, does anyone have a source?
Cheers,
bill

Some may have seen this but it's worth the read. Karl Blade engages a blog discussing in part the Newell. His comments start about 3/4/ down the page .... Worth the read..

I know that Marc's coach 701, which is a 2004, has a murphy bed in it. Is any one aware of an earlier Newell with a murphy bed?

What happened to the "Locater" button on top?
