Started my 48v lithium battery conversion.  Since I won’t have time to install the 48v Victron inverter before our Christmas  trip, I’m just wiring a few of the batteries in parallel for now. I had to take care of some minor rust (much better shape than the wet bay!!!) and it looks great now.  I really like the Ospho rust converter.  I scraped the bad areas, treated first with Ospho, then Rustolum rust restorer and then paint.  Looks much better.  I should have gotcha better “before” pic.  Also, it’s amazing how much better the battery trays slide with little grease and 1/2 the weight!

I’m switching out my batteries and inverter to a 48 volt victron system.  This is obviously causing me to have to rework the 12v systems in the coach.  Most of what I need to accomplish can be done with a 48 to 12 volt Dc to dc converter (or actually 2) but the generator start system has me thinking an independent start battery might be the best option.  I suppose I could change the generator start over to the chassis batteries (as I’m going to with the slide hydraulic motors) but I fell like having its own battery may be a good idea.  I could always wire up a starter relay to the chassis batteries as a back up.  Can anybody think of a reason why I shouldn’t do this and any recommendations on a battery size. Just for fun I used my 330 cca  lawnmower battery and it seemed to start the generator fine, but it was a brand new battery.

Greetings,

Base on all the reports on replacing this bar and with my coach having 240K+ miles on it...

I'm trying to figure out the correct bar for my coach.  It's 2001 #593.  Base on the drawings from the thread

Ridewell Drawings (https://newellgurus.com/showthread.php?tid=7524) post#5  I do have the Ridewell 246003 Drive Suspension based on my plate.

It's showing item 43 "Sway bar Tpin A=27.25"  Part no: 5037046B323

I can't tell if this is the same as the meritor 5111 version?  Does this seem correct.

Anyone have another source for this part.  I tried the link from Jeff's reply in thread https://newellgurus.com/showthread.php?tid=8107&page=4  but it's showing out of stock now.  And I certainly do not want to remove this before I can get a new one.

Thanks

Frank

I’m replacing my blown out muffler on # 639 with a walker 22771.  The muffler is much smaller (and lighter).  I notice the stock muffler is rigid mounted to the coach frame.  I been around a lot of cars, boats, airplanes, power sports, etc and cannot recall ever seeing any part of an exhaust system rigid mounted to the frame of the vehicle. Is there some valid reason for this?  Is it just a compromise Newell chose due to the weight?  My intention is to mount  the muffler from flexible exhaust hangers, but just want to throw it out to the gurus in case I’m missing something.

We have a clear Plexiglass rod that appears to support the end of dining table after installing the middle extension. This plexiglass rod however seems to be a few inches too long,so the support is at quite an angle. What am I missing on this setup?

Our coach (1976) was born with a Cummins 555 and allison mt41 trans.

The 555 is impossible to get parts for so I am planning a heart transplant.

I have a 24 valve 5.9 cummins.  That is slightly tuned up.  I feel this is going to be a good power plant for the bus with a bump in hp/to over the 555.

I have a couple transmissions I am looking into.  The mt41 is not going to handle the torque of the new engine.

I currently have a lead on an mt645cr.  Any experts in here that can tell me if this would be a good trans for this swap?

As most of you know, I became the sensation on renovating my 1993 Newell from top to bottom right down to new air tanks and detailing the chassis to look factory. I have 3okw of lithium battery power on a Victron system and 3600watts of roof solar panels. Well, we moved to Ozark MO and have this house to renovate and no place to put the coach. It is currently in storage in Gilbert AZ. I most likely won't be able to just fly in and show it but I am entertaining ideas of interest if there is such. I will be firm on the price of 125k as I have extremely more in it. We have taken this on several cross country trips and it has been more than a vehicle but rather a comfortable home. Everything is pristine and up to date. I hate for it to sit but I am ok if it does as it is in a covered and powered storage facility in a dry climate. Feel free to look up my profile and see all of my posts. The best education on what it is comes from looking back at my posts.
Andrew Steele did a quick overview of my coach at the beginning of this clip.

For everyone on this forum and those who we met along the way, I want to say thank you for all the support and everlasting friendships that will carry with us. At some time down the road when our lives no longer have disruptions, we may enter the RV community again.

In the meantime, The coach will be in AZ up until January/February when we move it closer to us in Ozark.

I hate to be the guy always asking questions rather than using the search function, but since the search function generates completely arbitrary results in my case, I have no choice. Does anybody have a source and or part number for the ABS wheel sensor. 2002 coach #639 Dana 84 IFS

Thx
