Forum: Heating Systems

Hi All!
I have an under couch heat exchanger plenum with a squirrel cage fan and a through shaft motor. (one motor runs both fans) Recently it began misbehaving. After a search through the forums, it appears Tom has the same system, albeit in a bay, so i could get some ideas. I believe I have it down to an electrical isse. Could be a loose crimp, a broken/intermittent wire or something else.

When I have the fan running I can manipulate the wiring and get it to speed up and slow down, likely due to voltage fluctuations.

The wiring is a bit confusing. I am attaching pictures to try and figure it all out.

The weirdest thing is a secondary, piggybacked set of wires going into on of the housings for the squirrel cage fan.

I have a 2 speed switch on the wall adjacent to the couch that allows low/high speed on the fan and it does switch speeds. (Tom let me know that the motor is actually 3 speeds, so you can only choose 2 of them!)

Any ideas what the other wires do? Which colors are which from the newell side? (Green w/red)

Thanks!

Spotted a super sweet vintage Newell today at Amana RV Park. Man it looks good!! So glad to see that its loved and on the road.

There is a dog show here this weekend. Maybe they are showing or just fans. I'll update if I can meet them.

I am here for the Teton Club International Rally (Teton is out of business since 2009, but made the best 5th wheels.)

Regards,

Bob

i have a complete dinette.  brown in color.  it came out of a 2001 newell that belonged to several of our gurus.   the last owner worked from the coach and did a really nice work desk there instead.

i had a desk in my 02 that was put in by newell.  so i took that out and it went to a different guru.

the complete dinette didnt fit in my space, so i just installed the table and we use some really cool blue and orange metal chairs that are free standing.

the upholstery is in great shape as is the entire setup.  i imagine it would be about 8 million dollars to have newell make one.  so i have the deal of the century.

free.

if someone doesnt want it fairly soon, it will probably get disposed of.  i have had it up on the shelf for over 3 years.

shipping this would be cost prohibitive

Hello, new to this site.. Richard has helped me with the air issue. now to the gen.  previous owner stated generator was running fine in drive way, then just shut down. so after looking over stuff, I have found that when you try to even crank the gen or turn the switches on, there is no power at the switches. Any diag help would be appreciated.   And Richard Thank you again for all the help on the air system.

Hi guys!

Just found out about this fantastic forum mentioned on a YouTube vid. I'm trying to learn about this brand/community and the luxury Class A lifestyle in general. We just stayed at Tiger Run in Breckenridge (with our 5th wheel) and I was in awe of the beautiful motorcoaches in residence there, including a couple Newells  Cool

We are a family of 4 with two young boys. We work from home and could possibly take some extended trips during the summer months when the boys won't be in school. I would also like to explore the prospect of using the coach as a business expense and tax right off as we could use it in our health coaching business.

Are there any "first read" threads I should check out? Timeline to owning one of these is 1-2 years thereabouts.

Thanks and excited to be here and learn!

I can’t begin to tell you how invaluable these wireless headsets are when you have challenging sites to back into. Beyond ease, they make it safer, and less stressful.

Hope you find this video useful…it may even save your marriage! ?

Hello everyone. We just purchased Coach 526, a 1999 40.5’ double slide Newell from Arizona Luxury Coach. We had a wonderful trip home to Tennessee. We look forward to many more adventures. Hopefully, after I figure out where everything is and what everything does.

What a great resource this forum was in the lead up to our purchase.

Should the ems be located after the ATS and cover both the shore and genset power or just in the shore line before the ATS?
