I do not know if the front shocks on a 1998 are the same as a 1999 or not, What I have on mine is Bilstein AK1379, I cannot find them anywhere, I called Newell spoke with parts, they didn't have any, they sent me to service to see what they used to replace them, the man I spoke with didn't know, took my number said he would have a tech that knew call me. There must have not been any because no one ever called.
I took the Koni number I found here for the 1999 but cannot find anyone who stocks them either ? I do not know what to do at this point, any suggestions ? Thank you, Ken 1998 coach # 473

Well this last weekend the water heater in our 84 died. Looked like a straightforward fix so I ordered a new one and it should,be here by the weekend. Tonight I had a visitor from Canada passing thru who stopped for the evening. Retro was coming thru with his latest project which is a 76 Newell he picked up in Missouri I am sure we will all get to watch this old beauty come back to life in his very talented care. He showed me pics of his other two restorations and he did an amazing job on both. Keith is a very nice person and I hope you all get a chance at some point to meet him as well I was very glad he decided to overnight here.

i brought my coach to where he was overnighting to show him the result of all of our work the last couple of years I mentioned my water heater would be replaced this weekend and he asked about the flooring in the bay. He said many times that area is rotten due to the wood they used being sandwiched between metal on the bottom and a laminate ontop. Add some moisture from all of the water activity and you have a prime spot for rot. Well sure enough the wood was rotten underneath after we poked around it. Luckily it appears only to be that huge bay though. So the heater will go in this weekend as planned but later this year I will have to pull the heater, the water tank, the waste tank and all of the plumbing that's in the bay so that I can strip out all of the rotten wood in there and start all over. hopefully I don't have too much rust damage under the wood.

It's a daunting project but I also look forward to having a very clean looking and updated water bay. After talking to Keith I think it makes sense to use aluminum or metal on the flooring rather than wood again so that I don't have to worry about rotten wood ever again. He has done this to his coach and said he rebuilt and updated his water manifold at the same time as well.

So Gurus this is the planning stage for my project and I would like your input and ideas on this as well since I will have not done anything like this before. I will post some pics of the bay etc in the next day or so to help fuel your input. Thanks as always gurus for your support.

The switch in bathroom and above microwave when switched causes red light above kitchen switch to light red....but the fan does nothing and no sound...if manually raised with knob it works....
the one over the pantry works by switch...
I have tried the knob shaft in various lock/unlock positions...but no luck....

Howdy-
Any ideas or experience with bathroom/bedroom skylight cover that will not open?
This baffled both Ron and I but just now getting around to asking...
He said he had opened in the past with little/no effort...but it will not slide any...not a fraction...you can move the cover up (vertically) a small amount...but seems something has moved or shaken down that is keeping it from sliding any at all...

Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

I spent the better part of this week having work done at Newell. My coach was significantly out of alignment, both front and rear, and Pete spent a whole day setting it straight for only the standard fee. Other minor work and inspections were performed and (except for four gold plated tie rods) I am a happy camper. Competent, friendly and free run of the shop are big positives.
Tomorrow I take the coach to Big Cabin Diesel to have the valves and injectors adjusted. Hope it works out as well.

I am on a quest to develop a database with photographs of Newells where we have a known coach/VIN number.

I have accumulated several hundred photos of known Newells and dozens of photos of Newells where I am aware of the year model but not the specific coach number. If anyone has access to photos of one or more Newells where you are certain of the coach number please let me know. I can be reached for this purpose at photos at newellowner dot com.

According to Newell, there was ONE Classic Newell constructed after the introduction of the 1990 Series 2000. I had always assumed that it was a 1990. However, due to the effort of Pat Dwyer, I now know that it was a 1993 model #317.

If ANYONE runs across any information on #317, please let me know. The only things I know about this unique Newell so far is that is 40' long, no slide, mid-entry, Classic body style, I know the VIN, that it was registered in North Carolina in 1993 with less than 10,000 miles on it, and has been registered in Rochester Mills, PA in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Any photos or additional information about this unique Newell would be appreciated.

We are at Oasis RV Resort in Amirillo off I-40. It is fairly new and all paved with a good pool and modern facilities. good place if you pull a trailer as there is lots of room. No noise and cheap too....Lot's of SOB's here but no Newell friends....

Wait !!! I think we are starting to feel the magnetic pull of the the "Gurujmahal" !! We were headed to New Mexico (we thought), but this morning the GPS had a Skull and Cross bones on it ....

I have had a real problem posting to the site for 2 months now. Sometimes it takes several tries, but I have mostly given up until yesterday when I did nothing different, but now the road block is gone and I can reply better.

Sorry Bill J that it took me a couple of days to get back to you on the radiator. Let me know what you do and where as maybe "I have a guy"....
